Vibe: This is a beautiful rustic property with absolutely stunning views. Each morning felt like stepping out of a treehouse and walking through a lush rainforest on the way to breakfast. That said, be prepared for a lot of stairs — easily over 50 steps each way. If you have mobility issues this place will not be suitable for you.
Room: The room was spacious and offered breathtaking views. The bed was very comfortable, and the AC worked ok, though it had to work overtime. The windows weren’t properly sealed, allowing hot air to seep in, and the upstairs loft (Bali Suite) had large gaps between the walls, making it extremely hot (around 30°C). This was also contributing to the overall room temperature never cooling beyond 23° during the day. I had to keep the AC at 18°C just to be comfortable at night downstairs. If I were sharing the room, the loft would’ve been unusable. Noise was a major downside. Loud music from the town played until 2 to 3am, followed by early morning announcements/roosters/dogs barking around 6 to 6:30am. If you're a light sleeper like me, you might struggle here.
Restaurant/Bar: Breakfast was included and quite good — simple but plentiful. Dinner, however, was disappointing. The menu was limited and very overpriced. Also different menus had different prices listed, which was quite confusing. Bar drinks are also extremely overpriced and according to others at the bar, very sweet. Though, the welcome drink was pretty darn tasty!
Location: On paper, the location seems ideal since it's close to many attractions. In reality, it's not great for walking. Taxis are expensive ($10 for a 2 to 3 minute ride to the bottom of the hill), and the walk is extremely steep and unsafe for anyone with knee or back issues. You’ll be walking along the main road, with cars speeding by in both directions, so it's definitely not child-friendly. After dark, there’s very limited lighting, making the walk even riskier.
Service: This is where the experience really fell short. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming, which made for a disappointing first impression. Most staff interactions (except for Onion, Dani, and Edan) felt awkward and strained, like they didn’t want to be there. At this price point, you expect a warm, welcoming environment. Instead, the place felt lifeless. A few smiles and some basic hospitality would go a long way. Communication via WhatsApp was also frustrating. Responsiveness and engagement were simply lacking. Asked for the final receipt to be emailed and still don't have it, after asking several times. Also, just so everyone is clear "on the way" means "taxi will leave in 20 minutes". Don't rush out of the restaurant like I did several times only to stand in direct sun waiting.
Excursions: The hotel offers a good selection of excursions, which is convenient. However, there’s little to no information provided about them — no descriptions, no tips on what to bring or expect, and no guidance on what each tour involves. A simple pamphlet or webpage would solve this issue and help guests prepare better. For example, some tours involve hiking in wet swimwear without warning, which could be avoided if guests knew to bring a change of clothes. Better planning and communication here would really improve the guest's experience. I had a hiccup with one of the excursions and was offered $10 off taxi only. When I asked if this could be subtracted from the tour itself, I was told no. The had to pay the tour company the money. They were the tour company and the driver worked for them, so I ended up not getting a discount. Technically it was applied to an already overpriced taxi, so I got it for the same price as what I was quoted in town. So, no discount.
Reception: there was no one at the reception in the evenings and often times during the day, which is wild since the universal 3 ⭐ rating means 24-hour reception. So again, you have to rely on WhatsApp, where some messages don't get answered.
Overall, the property is nice but the service doesn't match the high price point
