"Beware of the first floor. The first floor is for pets."

After staying in Hampton Inns all over the country for decades and never having a single issue; our streak ended. What a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again. At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology. I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog. Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd? Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working) This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will not be back.
