The George Inn Middle Wallop

The bed was super comfy!! After a bit of confusion around a check in at 4pm which affected the wedding we were due to be at for 2.30pm the lady who was cleaning was kindly able to accommodate our bags in the rooms which was nice. The room was reasonable value for one night.

The lady behind the bar when we arrived was rushed off her feet, considering it was a Saturday lunchtime and the sun was out the staff seemed extremely busy and it was difficult to get anyone to help without feeling we were inconveniencing them. There was quite a stressful atmosphere throughout the venue. Breakfast bread was stale and the milk was off in my husband’s tea but the chap serving tried his best considering he was on his own.

Excellent hospitality, went out of their way to look after us after a long bike ride and late arrival. Friendly pub, good food.

The George Inn was easy to find and had good on-site parking. My room was for a single person so it was quite basic but had everything I needed for my stay, including somewhere to hang clothes, if needed. I was a bit concerned at first that it was right above the pub's main entrance and faced onto the crossroads where the George is situated. However, when I got back in the evening, the pub was empty and quiet and the traffic had died down. I had a really good night's sleep - I didn't hear any noise up till about 8:30am, which was great! The room had tea/coffee making facilities - and biscuits, which was a nice touch! The toiletries in the bathroom were also a nice touch. The bed was very soft, which was OK for me - but might be too soft for some. There was a good range of options for the cooked breakfast. There was also a good range of cereals and juices. The muesli was really good quality! I also appreciated the fresh berries. Another plus - the bread they used for the toast was lovely! The staff were friendly and very responsive, if I needed anything.

I had a bit of trouble getting in the door when I got back in the evening. I used the key I was told would let me in - but maybe I needed to use a second lock to get the door to open. I'm not great with unfamiliar locking mechanisms so a bit more detail would have been helpful. Really luckily, there was still someone in the bar who was able to let me in! The breakfast was really good, but I could have done with the tea being a bit hotter.

Good value for money, friendly staff, filling breakfast, lovely evening meal.

The room could have been cleaner, dust in places and tired shower. Bed was too soft for my liking.

Water could have been hotter. Sime traffic noise but not troublesome. Location fine but sat nav (Waze) inaccurate.

At least the bedlinen was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The lack of cleanliness in the room was appalling. Every surface was covered in dust and it was apparent that the floor had not been hoovered recently. The 'hot' water for the shower took a long time to warm up and then it was only luke warm. The cost of the room was cheap so I was not expecting a lot but the basics should be covered. The staircase leading to the room also had a mucky carpet which was off puting. As requested we had told the bar staff what we wanted for breakfast and the time the night before and I saw her write it down. When we went down to breakfast we were not expected and every thing had been 'switched off'. We were shown that our breakfast booking had not made it into the chef's book. (We asked if we could at least have a coffee and a bacon sandwich and this was provided and there was cereal.) On the basis of all this we only stayed for one night of our original two night booking. If a manager person had been around I would have raised these points directly.
