The Royal Hotel Stromness

Excellent room and bed very comfortable. Helpful staff. Great stay all in all just wish the restaurant was open for dinner.

The hotel room was a great size with modern bathroom and comfortable bed. The Room was over the hotel bar and there was some noise from the music but it was switched off at 11pm and the guests were respectfully quiet. The breakfasts were superb and freshly cooked. The Haggis was an unexpected bonus. Would definitely recommend the Royal for a short stay.

Charming little hotel in Stromness. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The breakfast each morning was a huge plus before we set off to explore. Unfortunately for our family we booked during Shopping Week and were expecting a quiet stay, but instead got loud, rowdy nights as the only pub in town is at the hotel. If you are travelling in July make note of Shopping Week dates unless you are there for the party. 😊 Also, not many eating spots are open later at night so plan accordingly!!

Small hotel with big charm. The rooms are very old school but this was exactly the trip I wanted to experience.

A lovely pub/hotel conveniently located in the main street of Stromness. Delicious breakfast. Pleasantly furnished room with a comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff. The only problem was the noise. We were on the first floor at the front just above the bar which was very noisy during opening hours, and even after it closed for the night, customers would stand in the street under our window shouting to each other, and on one occasion banging on the pub door! Probably the rooms higher up or at the back would be quieter, or it would be OK if you don't mind going to bed late. Other than that, it was a great base for a wonderful holiday.

Really enjoyed our stay, staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Lovely dining room and excellent breakfast. Beautiful bedroom with lots of space and facilities.

Lovely Hitel located on main harbour walkway. Room was very quiet and well appointed. The cooked breakfast ... perfect !

Staff were all wonderful. Hotel is an old property, only 10 rooms, but updated nicely. Good workspace, excellent wi-fi, spacious room. Restaurant is closed, so dinner can be hard to come by after about 4pm, but those staying at the hotel get a free breakfast, with option including full Orcadian breakfast (meats--incl. bacon, sausage, haggis, black pudding), eggs, beans, tomato, and more. The bar is open until 10 or so, and you can get takeout and eat it in the hotel bar, if you'd like to have a beer with dinner.

We had booked this property (Royal Hotel) but didn't actually stay there because of renos, they moved us to the Ferry Inn (newly renovated) Perhaps a sister hotel. Our stay there was lovely. Rooms were nice, comfortable and clean, staff was extremely helpful, the dining in the hotel was very nice, the breakfast, served with the booking was great. Definitely recommend as a place to stay in Stromness.

Nice rooms staff helpful but no restaurant or bar as staff celebrating Halloween in their sister hotel.
