Didn,t like the price, the size of the room which had sloping ceilings, no cleaning done, small tv, no parking.

Hotel was spotless, comfortable and very well maintained. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast delicious. All in all a perfect base to explore lovely Orkney! 10 out of 10 from me!

Very well situated in the heart of Stromness. We stayed in the beautifully decorated and appointed family room. Unfortunately it was above the busy bar and so was rather noisy, particularly with people leaving at 11 o’ clock and talking loudly in the street outside. The car parking though free was about 200 metres from the hotel up a very steep hill. The breakfast though was excellent and the staff very friendly. We ate a number of times at their sister establishment, The Ferry Inn. The Royal’s tasting menu sounded delicious but was just too expensive for the three of us.

We didn’t like anything about the property and they were not helpful to us Iwould not recommended them to any of our friends

Very comfortable and clean with friendly service. Breakfast was excellent with good local produce from Stromness butchers. This small hotel also retained character with Orkneys connections to the Hudson Bay Company in Canada. Restaurant also looked fantastic but unfortunately closed on Sunday night when we stayed. Would definitely return.

Great hotel and seems to be recently decorated. My room was very large and immaculate. I was very happy with it. The only niggle was it was immediately above the bar which resulted in some noise but, fortunately, due to the Covid restrictions it closed down before 11pm

Poor instructions on booking in. Nowhere was it indicated where guests had to report with the building locked. We actually booked into a sister venue - The Ferry Inn where we were able to retire after a 500 mile journey. The host, Karen was very helpful although we didn't get our early breakfast as requested! All in all, disappointing.
