Nikko Dream House

The house was surprisingly roomy, with 2 large bedrooms, a dining room area, and a kitchen area. We enjoyed warming up with the kotatsu in the morning and evening (it was very cold outside during our stay). The location worked very well for us to head i to the historic Nikko area every day, but there were several great restaurants in the vicinity that we used for dinner. Parking was easy for our large car. This was a great stay for us!

It was clean and comfortable.

We didn't realize how far it was form Nikko townsite but that is our fault. We loved staying here but there aren't many restaurants nearby that are open. Thank god for 7-11.

Price, spacious parking is available, quite place.

Location is far from all ammentities. Quite messy in rooms - too much stuff everywhere (because owner lives there I guess), oil heater is old stinky - had to shut it down. We could't figure out where are keys to check-in for long time Before check-in we had to fill up many forms despite all rest places (5 another hotels in Japan during our trip) didn't require so much information

Lots of space, washing machine & kitchen, a nice introduction to a Japanese flat, has it's own parking space, location is nice and quiet

I assume the owner had some misbehaving people stay before, we had loads of reminders to behave...the beds (futons) and furniture are all Japanese (you will sit on the floor), we liked it as it gave us an insight into how a Japanese apartment looks like, but for somebody with limited mobility the space might not be suitable. There is a washing machine, but no dryer, although some drying racks are available.

Privacy. Mattress was comfortable. And spacious for two.

1. Wire dangled off the counter, unsure if it was safe. 2. Distance from Imaichi Station to Dream House (with luggage) took us at least 15 minutes walk, each way. That's far and a challenge. Coming back to the apartment at night was very dark and scary. And staying for 3D2N was not exactly pleasant. Reviews on Booking.com was not accurate. 3. Property has no torchlight for loan, we ended up buying our own. It would be better to have a pocket torch for a loan. At least a 450lumens to see what's in front of us! Yeah...that dark. The owner said, "No torchlight. Thank you for your kind understanding?!" The walk to/fro lodging and Imaichi Station after 5pm were dark. Train frequency between Imaichi and Nikko is between 45minutes to an hour 😱😱. If I knew it earlier .... gosh!! 4. There was no detergent for washing despite having a washer. 5. No dryer and having our laundry to dry was a pain in such cold weather. 6. There was no convenient store to get simple necessities, only a restaurant across the street! 7. Extra pillows would be great. Comforter has a little "musky" smell. 8. Overly enthusiastic owner, but only for the part BEFORE we stayed in with repeated text messages. But right afterwards, we were left to our own device and struggles. The remark of "Hope for your kind understanding." - That felt like a slap to the face. 9. I was reminded to leave the premises the night before with timing, and I felt like we're being chased out. 10. After staying in, the response from the owner was less consistent. I had requested support for cab booking but it took a long while before the owner responded, so we left and did that 15 minutes walk and struggled with sand and gravels on our luggage wheels that felt like pushing a rock but soldiered through because we couldn't afford missing our train back to Tokyo... the frequency sucks!!! 11. Cab ride was ¥500-¥600 from Imaichi Station to...

Two bedrooms and also a small living.

It was a nice comfortable place.

The location is good is you have a car, otherwise it's too far from all the sights and restaurants.
