Courtyard by Marriott Thomasville Downtown

I’m a lifetime Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and I’m on my third year as a Titanium Elite with over 100 night credits this calendar year alone. I’ve been a professional traveler for decades and consider myself a seasoned traveler that knows when I’m being treated fairly and when I’m experiencing below standard service and reliability. That’s why I found this recent stay to be very odd and disappointing in several ways. 1. If you advertise that your breakfast bistro is open until 10 AM and you take orders until 10 AM. You should deliver on those orders and not renege on them after the fact. Although the staff was very courteous, the bottom line is they closed early and did not deliver what they promised. - Here’s what happened; I ordered scrambled eggs, toast, and bacon for breakfast with the Marriott Courtyard Thomasville, GA approximately 10 minutes before breakfast was to end at 10:00 AM on Sunday. After I waiting several minutes on my order, an older lady came out of the kitchen and said the kitchen is now closed, so my previous order would not be fulfilled. She only offered me the pre-prepared breakfast Bistro sandwiches that were from a cooler as my only option. Disappointed but with no other options I sadly accepted the pre-made bistro sandwich. However I specified that I did not want any of the additional arugula or avocado on the sandwich. My breakfast sandwich was delivered to me at 9:59 (1 minute before official closing) time and was full of arugula. Now it was too late to replace the substituted sandwich. The sandwich was greasy looking and had a lot of preservatives in it, not nearly as healthy as what I ordered. 2. Staff not familiar with operation of “refrigerators” in room resulting in some expensive food from a renown restaurant spoiling overnight in what turned out to be just a “cooler” (not a refrigerator) with a 2 hour “on-cycle” followed by an 8 hour “off-cycle”, but it was described as a refrigerator from front desk staff. - Here’s what happened; after putting our extra portions of very expensive takeout food in the refrigerator, we found it was spoiled the next morning, only to find out that the refrigerator was not “on” for any more than 2 hours and that its operation was not even understood by any of the Hotel staff including the housekeepers. They didn’t seem to know how it worked., and neither did I until I googled it that these were merely “coolers” that can only be programmed to stay “on” for 2 hours and then the they turn themselves “off” for 8 hours. They must be manually reset every 2 hours! And when I asked if Maintenance could explain its operation, front desk personnel said they was no maintenance personnel in the hotel on the weekend! My lesson learned is that it may look like a refrigerator, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a refrigerator. Apparently hotels are opting for these cheaper coolers that only run for 2 hours, but they look like and appear to be like a refrigerator… Don’t trust them to keep your food cool. 3. Approximately 45 minutes after our checkout I realized that we left some gifts that we had purchased for a sick friend in our room. I immediately contacted the front desk and they said that housekeeping had not cleaned our room yet and we could come back and get them. We were only 2 minutes away, but when we went to retrieve them, front desk staff told us that they had retrieved the gift bag from our locked room, but that the gift bag was empty, except for a few freebies that were in the bottom of the bag - the gift contents were all gone! It seems to me that the only one who could’ve access the room would’ve been housekeeping or the front desk personnel.

I was here for a local event. The hotel's location is great - downtown - walkable to restaurants and shoppes. The hotel was very busy the entire time I was there. The staff needs to be in some type of a uniform and cannot give the guest local directions. Possibly some customer service training is in order. My room was large had a great view of the pool area. It appeared to be clean. Some room items that needed to be addressed were - the bed frame had fingerprints on it, room clock needed to be set, the fridge inside was dirty, no water in room for the guest, there was hair in the shower. The staff was very friendly - the food in the Bistro was good. For the prices being charged these items must be taken care of. Continued Success.

This is the nicest property in the area, and it is located close to the downtown shopping area. The higher rates are worth it.

Have stayed here twice now, won’t repeat. Noisy outside, in hallways and from room to room. Unable to sleep. Can’t believe I gave this place a second chance.

Well kept, attractive facility, friendly, accommodating and courteous staff. Room was very nice!

We had a slight snafu at check-in. Room had been booked thru booking.com. Front desk had problems finding our reservation. It took quite a while and management had to get involved.
