Such a lovely place! We had a beautiful king room, with our kids in an adjoining queen room. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms luxurious and dinner in the restaurant was delicious!

Hillsborough is a colonial town, founded in 1764. This Colonial Inn isn't that old, but it is historic. It is both a hotel and a restaurant. We took visiting family there for lunch after a historic walking tour. We had an excellent meal, trying several new foods. Two of us had the Duck Club sandwich with lettuce, tomato, a fried egg and garlic aioli., accompanied by fries. It was great!!

Breakfast / coffee & cinnamon roll was good.

It would have been better if the garbage would have been taken out and the room straightened up.

We were a jolly group met with indifference. The food was average bar-food; nothing outstanding. When our waiter brought our beverages, he stood at one end of our table and gave each glass to one of our group sitting at the head of the table for him to pass around. This was repeated when he brought our lunches. He never moved from his place at the head of the table; we 'served' ourselves. It was never offered to us that we could have separate checks, so again our friend sitting at table-head, worked out each meal, beverage and tip. We could have done this at a cafeteria, less expensively.

I’ve stayed at the Colonial Inn numerous times, and it never fails to meet my expectations. It’s a clean, convenient, and unique hotel ina gorgeous small town. Highly recommend.

The best stay of our entire trip! While I initially had some misgivings about this inn, they all dissipated the minute I laid eyes on the place. It captures the best of small town southern USA - from the long pillared front porch so typical of the South to the renovated rooms inside. It was perfect. The bathroom was totally up to date, the beds very comfortable, and the decor clean and fresh with really attractive lighting fixtures. The staff was very attentive and we had daily maid service. Kudos to the owners for taking on a seriously dilapidated building dating to 1759 and transforming it into the wonder that it is. They preserved the historic ambience, while bringing it up to modern taste and comfort standards. And then there's the fabulous location - right in the downtown of this charming old North Carolina town filled with vintage homes, buildings and just 2 blocks from the picturesque Eno Riverwalk, the historic courthouse, and the Saturday farmers market. Wild horse couldn't keep me away from this place when I find myself in Hillsborough NC again!
