Malmaison York

I chose the hotel because it said it had a private car park. What it didn't say was that there were only 7 parking spaces and you had to request a parking space. So we ended up parking in the NCP car park at an additional £40 for 24 hours.

The room was very noisy, music and noise coming from the bar

Close to everything we needed but not so close you could hear the nightlife which meant a peaceful room. Everything we needed for a rare child free birthday break.

The room was a little dusty in parts. The carpet grippers/ spikes were exposed/ poking through the carpet between the bathroom/ bedroom walkway so you caught your feet now and then on the spikes. Slippers provided though. We did take our own, but on the odd occasion you walked about without, it did hurt.

Got an upgrade which was very nice room was large with sitting area Staff were very polite and helpful

Room was small and facilities aren't up to a 4 star hotel standards. There was nothing in the fridge other than a bottle of water. Breakfast has few options and given hot food can only be ordered, portions are way too small. My room was on 6rh floor just under the rooftop restaurant and on Saturday night there was live music until 1am, which seriously disrupted my sleep. The windows I'm not sure are soundproof as I could hear every single car passing. Overall, I would say it is a nice building and nice location but overpriced for what you get inside. Would I rush back? I don't think so.

Reception staff very helpful and ground floor bar staff excellent (Anthony). Veiw from the roof is amazing. The hotel is in an excellent location.

The bed was uncomfortable, and the room was not very private for using bathroom facilities. The staff at the roof terrace was very disorganised and waiting a long time to order food and drinks.
