Aloft by Marriott Wilmington at Coastline Center

We were in town for the Ironman event. Great location. The property was clean. The staff was friendly. Every staff member was great. Parking could have been a pain; however, Paul, with the valet, was excellent. He went above and beyond. He was friendly and professional. He is a definite asset to the property. PMC should pay Paul to train all their employees. The design of the faucet in the bathroom is flawed. Sure, it looks neat but someone failed to actually test things before approving that design. The amount of water that splashes onto the counter (toward the faucet) is crazy. We had to leave a towel there to catch it, so we didn't have a constant mess. The only time it didn't splash is if the water stream was so light that it would take forever to wash your hands. Staff was very helpful. We arrived quite late (12:30am) and the man at the front desk was polite, kind, and helpful. Every staff encounter was great. Keep up the great work. If we are in the area again, we will stay here.

The beds are like a rock, very small room for the price we paid. Asked for a large room and 212 is what I got. Was willing to pay for the best room and that’s what I got rm 212

The Valet Paul was very helpful and nice. He let us know how to get to and from the parking deck to our venue. Gave us directions to where the wedding was to be held.

This hotel has a good location at the far end of the Riverwalk, and our room had a view of the Cape Fear River and the USS North Carolina. However, our room and the hotel in general lacked amenities travelers have come to expect. Parking space was extremely limited; customers had to walk approximately 2 blocks to a parking garage when the hotel lot (including spaces for the Best Western) was full. No complimentary breakfast bar, only offered coffee and pastries for a fee. Our room and bathroom were spacious, but the dresser space for clothing was insufficient and there was no desk/work space, only a table and curved sofa.

The Aloft is a great hotel. Pros: 1. It's clean and well maintained. 2. The view of the riverfront is very nice, and the location is quiet. 3. You have the choice of valet or self-parking. The fee is the same. I liked the flexibility. However, there is a parking deck next door that is cheaper. Cons (minor): 1. The tap in the bathroom sink is too short. So if you don't run the water at full blast, you'll have a flooded counter with water dripping onto the floor. 2. The USB connectors in the room aren't compatible with my devices. I had to use a plug-in adapter. 3. It's near the convention center, which means choices of nearby, walkable restaurants is limited. You have the rooftop restaurant at the hotel, or a short walk to Steam at the Embassy Suites. Otherwise, it's only a ten minute walk to other restaurants in town.
