Palazzino Birgu Host Family Bed and Breakfast

A beautifully restored historic house. Quiet, tasteful spotlessly clean and very comfortable in a great location !

The location convenient , you can go to Valletta , by gondola or bus ! Birgu a small , picturesque city , with small restaurants near the hotel ! The breakfast felt, like we were in our house , with all the options needed ! It’s was quite with only 4 rooms , historic building , as palace ! Also beach towels available, upon request! We will come back for sure in our next trip to Malta !

The property is beautiful, the area is lovely and not as hectic as Valletta. The harbor nearby is perfect to relax and take a stroll. There is a boat every 30 mins to Valletta which stops in the same place as the Gozo highspeed ferry, super convenient. The room was fabulous with a nice view. Breakfast was fine, a bit more fruit would be good. WiFi a bit sporadic but there are instructions about how to deal with this.

Major problem with communication and customer service. Before my arrival, I wrote messages on here and on WhatsApp. No reply. Got to the property (during the designated check-in time) and couldn't get in. Called the host who didn't exactly make me feel welcome. Had to SMS to get the WiFi, then I was sent instructions to get a key. I had the wrong instructions but figured it out. Then followed instructions to the room which were wrong again. Finally found my room (which wasn't the one I requested as the host never saw/responded to my messages) which was nice but the whole check-in experience ruined my stay. There is also a rule that you have to vacate the room in the morning so someone can clean...every day!! Which I found annoying, intrusive and completely unnecessary as I had only arrived the night before.

Beautiful remodeled old home in great location to walk around Birgu, close to harbor. Comfortable with wonderful breakfast.

It is a beautiful characterful house set on a very quiet cul de sac with foot traffic only so it is very quiet. The room (at the top of the house) was beautiful, filled with of light and a wonderful view out over the rooftops to Valletta. Birgu is one of four cities forming the old part of Malta. A five minute walk down the hill takes you to the ferry over to Valletta where you can also catch the fast ferry to Gozo for a day trip. There are a number of restaurants nearby all of which were great - especially Tal Petut around the corner which is outstanding.

The stairs were a bit of a challenge for us but we are in our 70’s!

Stunning place to stay, bursting with history. Quite a few stairs to the rooms so not for the less mobile. The breakfast was served in a beautiful setting and there was plenty to eat. The place is very tastefully decorated and the furniture is amazing.

Was a bit of a faff getting in. We needed codes for the key boxes, which we struggled to find at first. When we opened the first one it had no keys in. We were able to enter using keys for the second room booked and within 5 minutes the manager had sent someone around with the other keys.

Beautiful area. Stayed only one night and had an early flight. Bit defiantly coming back. Great place.

Luxurious room and bath. Atmospheric palazzo, bathed in the warm tones of the local limestone. Quite beautiful. Hostess packed a picnic for us when it was impossible to enjoy the breakfast because of our tour in the morning. Wish we had more time there.

Small window for checkin (4-7), given that it is not in Valletta (but actually in a more interesting place, from what we saw in our short visit.

Excellent situation in the middle of Birgu. Nice and stylish room. AC made it warm in January. The breakfast room was within vaults of this old palazzo, the breakfast had something for every taste.

It is better to communicate by phone, I never got answers to my emails. It woud be nice to have a f.ex. slinding door between the room and toilet.
