"Wonderful stay"

10.0

We visited Savannah for the first time and chose the Thompson—and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional and every detail felt thoughtfully curated. The rooftop bar is a must—perfect for a leisurely breakfast with a view or sunset cocktails overlooking the river and city skyline. A truly memorable stay and the ideal introduction to Savannah!

"Luxury stay"

Absolutely wonderful. The hotel is beautiful with many green spaces outdoors to take our dog. The live music in the bar is lovely and the cocktails we had were very tasty. This really felt like a luxury stay and we will be back.

"Not what I hoped for"

4.0

Not what I hoped for. I travel a lot for work and usually stay at Hilton or Marriott properties but for a fun week with my hubby I thought I’d try the Hyatt Thompson Hotel in Savannah for something different. There were some good things I enjoyed but overall I was terribly disappointed. Let me start with the good: Location is good - views of the Savannah River and close to River walk shops, restaurants, and other hotels. They have a house car available for guests to use for free to take you anywhere in a 3 mile radius of hotel - which is nice so you don’t have to try and find parking downtown. The front desk staff were very friendly and offered a yummy house beer upon checkin. Now, the not so good: Parking - You have to either pay $24 a day to park on the street near the hotel, or $20 a day to park in a nearby parking garage, or $54 a day for valet. Nothing is very close, nor did I see handicapped parking, and my husband is disabled so this was quite problematic for us. Also, parking charges starts at 8am everyday, so you have to wake up early just to go feed the meter or the garage access. Additional charges: You get billed an extra $35 per night for a “destination fee” and they put a $450 charge for “incidentals upon checking in. I realize you can get that back if you don’t use it, but it was a surprise for me. Small rooms and NO storage: we booked a corner king room to take advantage of the views, but there’s nearly zero space for clothing, just a small wardrobe and a couple drawers. We stayed for a week, so the space was cramped and we ended up putting things on counter tops. No refrigerator: I was shocked there is no fridge in the room. Just a small “cooler” where they keep some minibar items available. This is not ideal if you are staying and enjoying the delicious food of Savannah and have leftovers you wanted to keep. No acknowledgment of special occasions: I reached out to the front desk ahead of our stay to let them know it was our wedding anniversary and we also were celebrating the one year anniversary of my husband surviving a stroke, but there was zero acknowledgment of this from anyone at the hotel. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. For the $$ point of this hotel I was not pleased with the bedding and pillows. Overall I was disappointed with this experience and not sure I’d stay at another Hyatt resort

"Romance, History and Dogs"

10.0

We chose this property because it allowed dogs, which was a major plus for us. I was impressed by the property's modern and clean appearance, and its location close to the historic area of Savannah was very convenient. There was a park right across the street where our dog could play and take care of business. The area had plenty of trash cans, and we also encountered many other neighborhood dogs. Savannah is such an amazing dog-friendly town. The view of the river from our room was fantastic, and it was incredible to see the large cargo ships arriving almost daily. Overall, it was a top 10 experience, and we will definitely be back.

We loved the views from having a high floor corner room. Our room was exceptionally clean as well as the entire property. Bar Julian was so wonderful for drinks, food & excellent service! Having the car service available to drive us into town was a great perk! Highly recommend this hotel!
