Residence Inn By Marriott Berkeley

I have stayed here several times and have had relatively good experiences. Not today. Check in was speedy; however, when I went to my supposed room there was someone else's belongings in it and towels all over the floor. The room was obviously occupied. This has never happened to me before, but I thought, okay perhaps a rare mistake. I told the front desk and got no apology, but a new key to a room that was ALSO occupied when I showed up. After two occupied rooms my husband said he wasn't comfortable with me staying there as they obviously have no security, so I asked for a refund. They gave it to me, but again, no real apology or concern. Stay away! Not safe!

This residence Inn is a gem in the middle of busy active Berkeley The breakfast is delicious with options for every diet. The rooms are pristine and spacious, and as close to home as a hotel can be. And the layout affords are really quiet night for sleep

Location to UC Berkeley and the south side area is great. Breakfast and service was very good. Staff at the front was wonderful. Lobby area is very nice.

Substantial construction noise on the north side. Rooms are best suited for two to four people for a longer stay. Rooms are a bit on the pricy side. Beware of homeless people on the streets outside the hotel. I encountered a homeless man swinging a stick and yelling at no one, and a lady taking a poop on the sidewalk. It's regretful that Berkeley will not address the homeless problem in the area. They are doing a disservice to the community and the unfortunate homeless people.

The location is awesome. Hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Room was spacious and quiet. I spent 25 years in the hotel business and it is always easy to spot a well run hotel. This is a well run hotel. The energy is so positive and the staff is happy, efficient and helpful. Excellent stay!!!

My husband & I traveled to Berkeley to see our daughter & her family & stayed one night. We were warmly greeted & received a wonderful corner room with a view of Cal. The room was perfect! The neighborhood is wonderful. Lots of restaurants & shops just outside the entrance. It’s a great location!

Had a wonderful stay. All of the staff, from front desk to house keeping to dining were friendly and welcoming. Hotel and room were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. I had a wonderful time. Can’t wait to come again.

Everything was wonderful. Clean room with a very nice view. The breakfast staff was outstanding. The front desk staff smiled, had great customer service and were very friendly. The lobby was relaxing. The 12th floor bar & restaurant was great. Breanna was wonderful and even remembered my last name. I highly recommend this hotel. Steve Concialdi.

Very central to the UC Berkeley campus (great for game day or visiting students), kind and friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms (many with excellent views) and all at a much lower price point than many local hotels. Great experience at a great value
