YMCA of The Rockies Estes Park

There was nothing we didn’t like. It was above and beyond our expectations! Delicious food. Great activities. Stellar views. Friendly staff. Affordable. It was just what my family was needing! Very restful and refreshing! But always something fun to do at the same time! (Great pool and basketball courts! Wonderful arts & crafts center!) LOVE the lodge-cabin feel!

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the property and staff were. This will become our yearly stay when we visit Estes Park and RMNP!

Economical option in Estes Park. Property is dated but lots of activities. Convenient to The Rockies.

Uhhhh hard pass, i know this is supposed to be a “mountain get away” but our room was awful /: im pretty sure our room was a closet in their basement converted into a room.. it was sooo so small, the shower was disgusting and none of the beds were made. Also both the safety locks on the door were busted off so there was no extra protection for the door outside the keycard lock, which really is not enough considering anyone can just walk into the building. Plus the room was under the stairs/ next too case so all night (especially at 4am??) all we heard was people going up and down the stairs it was so loud it woke up everyone in the room several times (6 people) the property is STUNNING but we honestly over all felt very unsafe and scared /: something about being crammed into a closet in the basement of a hotel under the stairs with no real locks on the door just was a very uncomfortable experience.

Checkin process took 1 hour, they gave our room to some other people and couldn’t get us a room on time.

Room was 80 degrees all night, even with window open, no air was moving. Room needs a fan of some kind. No soap in dispensers.

The hotel does not have air conditioning. Instead, they give you a box fan that you are supposed to place in an open window so there is no personal security from people or wildlife at night while sleeping. The bathroom is very small, especially with only a single sink and no counter space. No TV in the room so the teenagers in the other rooms congregated in the hallways making a lot of noise in the evenings. The only microwave for the entire build was in the lobby. The complex has dozens of structures spread randomly around a huge area with roads that meander in no particular order, so finding your way to your building at night is very difficult since road signs are poorly lite, or damaged and none of the building names are lite. I drove around for 15 minutes to find my assigned property. Check in time is 6 PM so if you want to take a shower before going out to a restaurant after a day in the park you will be running late. I travel a lot on business and have never seen such a disorganized mess. This was the only hotel left with a vacancy in Estes Park so I took a chance, but knowing all of this, I should have driven to a nearby town for another hotel. I will NEVER be back.

I have been told for years that the YMCA is a great place to go and finally got to try it out. My only regret is that I stayed only one night but you can use the grounds and amenities before and after check-in and check-out. We played putt-putt and went to a very cool little coffee shop half a mile down the road, even though they have many affordable options onsite for dining. We saw elk and deer on site and swam in the pool. It is close to downtown but far enough away and close to RMNP as well. We will forever stay here when visiting from now on!

The most frustrating part was the check-in time. They state that it may be until 6pm before rooms are ready. We didn't get access to our room until 7pm. With a 10am check out time, this hardly seems worth staying. They did offer us a free meal in the dining hall, but we had just eaten there to pass time, and it was awful so we quickly declined the offer to go back. On a positive note, the activities for kids seemed great. While we waited the several hours for our room to be available we did check out the Crafts building, which my 7 year old loved.

This is more of a mountain resort. The check in lodge was massive, loved the rocking chairs and fireplace. Our room was clean, parking lot was huge & very well lit since we arrived at night. The room isn’t pretty though and didn’t have an AC unit. But overall it was fine for one night.
