The Smeaton at Claremont Apartments

Well decorated. Great shower with good pressure and hot water.

Damp without heating on. Stairwell to bedroom is poorly maintained. Carpet loose and wall chipped. Finding parking nearby was difficult and yet car park had space throughout my stay.

Incredible value for money, this property was nicer than my own flat. A gorgeous shower, soft bed, and tasteful decor blew me away.

Travellers are advised that the Smeaton room specifically has a steep staircase leading to the only bedroom and toilet. It is pitch black in the stairs with the lights off even in the daytime.

Nice property. Everything within the property was useful for example; iron, washing machine etc.

The only thing I missed was a microwave when I bought something microwaveable but I should have checked before.

The apartment is located close to the University and a short walk from the city center. It has all the commodities to cook and wash clothes. Check-in was easy, the bed was comfortable, and there was a table to work. I only hesitate to recommend it because of the negative points which I list below.

Maintenance is poor. The doorknob almost fell apart when I entered the apartment, and the shower was leaking water. One of the blinds on the bedroom windows was also broken. Cleaning is also poor. The surfaces were noticeably dirty when I arrived. The bedsheets had stains and I had to wash them myself to get them clean. The carpet on the top floor should also be better vacuumed. Also, there was almost never anyone at the reception to speak to. Finally, they refused to issue an invoice for my stay, claiming that since I've booked through Booking this would not be possible (never had that issue before).

Excellent location in Leeds. Beautiful old biodling, two floors apartment, well equipped. Quiet area.

Friendly and welcoming staff who did what they could to make my stay excellent, including organising a late check out which was much appreciated.

This is not a reflection of the apartment - I had neighbours on either side of me for 3 nights who seemed to know each other and had late night get togethers (totally fine and normal!) but they would go from one room to another and let the heavy doors slam which kept me up for 2 nights. This wasnt ideal as I was there for work. I did leave them a note on the second night and they seemed to take more care to close doors. Perhaps the apartment management could add a note to close doors quietly on the upper room as the noise carries very easily.
