Birchwood inn

This place was unacceptable. We arrived at check in time and no management or staff were on the premises. After a phone call with other waiting guests, we were able to retrieve our key from a box. I reserved a room with a "kitchen" but found the stove dirty with two burners disconnected and broken, a filthy microwave, and a dirty fridge. There was no deadbolt on the door, and you could see daylight between the door and the jamb. The single hotel washing machine was out of order and full of water. The dryer was out of order and full of rolls of toilet paper. Seriously. We witnessed two other families call management, request a refund, and promptly leave. We did the same. Fortunately, we were able to find a much better place a few miles away for a few hundred more and Expedia immediately started the refund process. Stay away from this place. It’s a dump and needs new management.

Absolutely NOTHING! From the time we arrived it was a complete nightmare for us.

The office was not 24 hrs. The key cards and room information with all of my personal information was in a flip top box attached to the office wall for anything to access. We went to the room, and as soon as we opened the door, the overwhelming punget smell of stale cigarette smoke smacked us in the face. We walked in, and there was a red plastic bag covering the smoke detector. The linens were filthy with yellow stains on the sheets, and the towels and washclothes were so filthy. We took our stuff back out of the room. The customer service is slow and terrible. I was traveling with my teenage son and my granddaughter. My son has asthma, and I have respiratory concerns. The room was listed as non-smoking, clean, 24-hour front desk service, and so much more. I 100% will never stay again or recommend this place, EVER. I travel to Chincoteague Island at least 4 times per year because I have family in the area. I have never had such a terrible experience over the last 20+ years of staying on Chincoteague Island. Additionally, the rooms do not have a phone for emergency calls, and all of the outlets did not work on the room. The refrigerator is filthy and frozen over. I could list so much more, but I believe that I have made my point. This place is NOT recommended. I did not take but 1 picture of the rooms. The worst part is that you can't capture the terrible smell to share.

We just needed a last minute room. Wasn't expecting the greatest. Beds were fine. Bathroom had dead bugs smashed to the wall. Stove was broke. Place could use a renovation but if I just need a place to crash, I'd take a chance and go back.

The location was excellent to attend the Pony Penning fair. It was almost too excellent, because on the day of the event, the streets were all blocked off and it was really hard to drive around. It's a little off the main tourist area, so it was hard for little kids to walk to where all the restaurants and activities were located. And this was probably a fluke, but our room had a lot of flies in it, so we spent an hour or so chasing them down and killing them.

It was a quaint hotel. The pool was very clean. There were a lot flies inside the room, dead and alive. The kitchenette was convenient but you have to bring everything, they don't supply pots, pans or dishes.

Its a very nice area/hotel. We only stayed one night so it was nice for that. Felt safe and the room was clean.

Needs pots and silverware for the kitchen area needs better pillows and blankets needs some minor repairs in the bathroom in room 8 like towel rack and safety bar in the tub
