Cavedale Cottage

I absolutely loved the quirky style and spacious bedroom. The main bedroom is absolutely gorgeous and the bed - WOW! It is just So comfortable ☺️ The second bed is much bigger than it looks, for context, my son is 6f 6 and had ample space! He said it was really comfy! From the pictures it looks as though it is just a hole in the wall however, the ceiling is much higher the further in you go, with further space to the side of the mattress (not seen on the pics) with hanging space. It’s really quite cosy with the light switch at the side of the bed. The whole feel of the cottage is something else and I will definitely be booking to stay again. It is quirky, with floors on numerous levels which adds to its charm… but do mind your head when coming out of the bathroom, it got me 4 times ☺️.

Some parts of the house are a bit quirky and awkward to use due to design (and we had a young child with us that complicated matters), but its in a wonderful location.

Top garden drop/no fence- maybe mention as our puppy got to the top of the steps and nearly dropped but we grabbed her.

Great location. Comfy Beds, cosy cottage. Great communication and easy access.

No toiletries - miniatures would be a nice touch. Blocked drainage in shower - basin kept over flowing. No dishwasher tablets and some of the crockery and cutlery weren't clean. Unfinished ceiling exposed plaster board presumably due to leaks. Just felt like a few little bits could be done to personalise the experience and give value to the money spent.

Door lock tricky to use. Very easy to get locked out. This was explained beforehand. Couldn't get shower hot despite following instructions. Probably user error.

Location was great. Main bed was very comfy.

The property was not very clean and it was in dire need of redecoration. It looked tired and not well kept. Mould round windows and in kitchen and bathroom. Shower flooded after only a couple of minutes. Sofa was very uncomfortable. Garden untidy and for a dog friendly property should not have weed killers lying around. We were very disappointed at the standard for the price we paid. Also, it would not be costly to provide a few dishwasher tablets or the makings of a fire for the first night. Log burner glass was filthy. Couldn’t see if fire was on or not. Front door dirty. It’s a real shame because with some TLC this could be stunning.

Traditional local cottage that has been tastefully renovated but still retaining character. Easy access via a key box. Cosy lounge and bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom with the bed tucked into a nook was fun for the kids. Walk in shower. Large TV with a stash of DVDs and Netflix. Two good pubs within a stones throw. Excellent base for walking and visiting the caverns.

Many low door beams means care is needed not to bash your head if you’re over 5’6”, but hey it’s an old cottage!
