The Ram Inn is a lovely country pub with great rooms. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in looking after everything for us.

The staff were exceptional and they allowed us to check out 1pm rather than 11am- they went above and beyond. 5 stars Manager was lovely too

a double bed being put into two single beds- quite uncomfy tbh

The ram was truly excellent and the staff wonderful.

The only issue is that the extractor for the bathroom seemed to extract into the flue, and so there was a lot of ash in the bathroom. It’s also potentially a carbon monoxide issue so probably needs looking at!

"A beautiful pub in a perfect location. Fell short on a few fronts."

6.0

The location of the pub was beautiful. The dining room and bar had a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed spending time there in the evenings. The breakfast room was lovely too, nicely presented and with a welcoming fire and big old windows. It was very relaxing in there. The local sourdough and apple juice was welcome. We found the cooked breakfasts not to be as high quality as we would have expected (for example I don't think the sausages or bacon were very good quality and the bread with the smashed peas was not the nice sourdough). It was also hard to find staff to order - we were waiting for quite a while, as were other tables, and had to go down into the main pub to ask for a coffee.

Unfortunately our room - Bramble - fell short of expectations on a few fronts. Firstly, it was extremely warm in there - to the extent that we had to keep the window open and were still too hot to sleep well. I don't know if this was because it was next to the plant room or above the kitchen, or for some other reason. Secondly, we were woken up several times by staff members and deliveries. On the Sunday night in particular we were woken by two staff members shouting to each other about the recycling, and later by talking. We were then woken a couple of times by early morning deliveries - the van beeping as it reversed, and the noise of the delivery itself. This would have been less disruptive if the room hadn't been so hot that we had to have the window open - although surely staff members should never shout to each other and chat late at night outside a pub when guests are sleeping? Thirdly, the room smelt heavily of cooking. I saw that the extractor vent was just outside, pointing away from the room - but this was not enough to stop the smell. It was most pronounced when we returned to our room after being away for a while. We didn't leave the window open, so somehow the smell got in. The smell was such that it put us off having lunch with you on the Sunday. We had a relaxing weekend in Firle, but unfortunately we were both exhausted when we got home, as we'd had 2 nights of broken sleep. For £180 per night I would have expected better. I would have loved to return, and to recommend it to my family, but I'm not sure I can.

"OK, I wouldn't return."

6.0

The staff were generally good. Lovely location.

The room was very small, no wardrobe, windows had cobwebs on them and bathroom was of a poor standard. Dirty old slip mat on the wall of the shower and equipment kept falling off the wall. Some of the staff were not as customer focused as they could have been. EG. Showing displeasure when we were 'in their path' in the bar area. Food was average, my husband's steak was poor on the first evening of our stay. Also breakfast wasn't of a great standard and som items had run out on the Sunday. Also there wasn't consistency at breakfast. Basically was told to make my own tea when we had had it served in a pot on the Saturday.
