"Great location, very nice place, just book it already."

Stay here, you won’t be disappointed. I am planning to go back again. Very nice place. Terry was such a thoughtful host. And her daughter even cleared the snow from my car. The room was bigger than expected. It was incredible value, too. My son and I did look for Petoskey and Charlevoix stones at Mangus Beach in Petoskey. We technically found one of each, but very poor examples. Terry and her daughter sent us home with some really nice ones they had collected. Btw, there is a place to go stone hunting very close to the Charlevoix House, but they had gotten almost three feet of snow about a week before we got there, and the close location has pretty steep, skinny stairs down to the beach. At least I think they’re steep, I managed to park and stomp through some snow to glance at the stairs, but mostly saw piles of snow. Btw, the room we got was listed as having one full bed (or was it queen?) and one twin on booking.com . When my teenage son and I walked in, after greeting us, Terry said “I bet the listing said there was a twin bed”, then showed us a fold out futon chair. It was perfectly comfortable for my skinny teenager, but a larger person probably wouldn’t be comfortable on it. The main bed was very nice and comfy. I don’t think anyone had used the chair/futon as bed before. She wasn’t exactly sure how to get it to fold all the way out. The secret is to unfold the seat portion first, the legs are behind the fabric, under a zipper. Unfold the legs on the chair back, then push the back all the way forward, towards the seat portion, then lay it down. If you’re old enough to remember those outdoor loungers that were popular in the 1970s, this chair/bed works the same way.

Limited parking on property. But if every room booked only has one vehicle, it should be fine.

Location and the hostess

Room was too small, bathroom too small. Twin bed was a roll a way.

The host Terry was very sweet.

The host Terry, had a nasty cold. I feel in these times, she should have taken precautions by wearing a mask and disinfecting everything.

"It was refreshing to connect with others when staying in a new place."

8.0

The friendly nature of the stay is wonderful. It's like stepping back in time when people actually talked to each other and life wasn't so rushed. The breakfast was very nice. Great place settings and variety of quick foods. The mattress was firm and comfy pillows.

The big crack around the rooms door that let in too much light from the hallway. Also, not device friendly as the outlets are sparse. It's an old house so I understand but I like it dark when it's time to sleep and I'm spoiled when it comes to always having enough outlets for all the modern gadgets.

The location was really convenient for walking to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was a great spread of options shared in the company of other guests and our host, Terry.

The daybed was really creaky, but the person sleeping there also moved a lot.
