Winter Garden Apartments by Sasco

The location was brilliant and that’s why we booked it. Right near the opera house winter gardens and a walk away from the beach.

There are lots of stairs which were a struggle but not the biggest concern. The apartment was unclean and the sofa had to be covered with blankets before we could sit on them. The cooker was dirty and there was a damp smell. There were several unclean parts throughout, broken toilet seat, stains on most fabrics. The sofa picture doesn’t do the job, it was awful. The tv on the wall had an open space behind it and we had no idea whether someone could hear our conversation from the next room or maybe see into the apartment. The rules state that check in is at 4pm and no sooner and if you have a complaint you have to phone before 5pm by phone as emails are not picked up. We were staying for one evening for a show and as such emailed as we didn’t have time to phone and go through the delay in the speed of one hour. I have been told that as we didn’t phone they will not provide any compensation and offered a discount for the next stay, which as already on offer when you have stayed once. It was a gift for my mum who’s in her 60s and I’m so disappointed with the stay as we couldn’t relax. I visit a lot of places and had this been clean, or an apology with compensation for the poor cleaning from agency staff I would have left a better review.

So many stairs!! Don't remember it being mentioned and they were pretty steep stairs! Also a funny smell, like drains

Perfect communal seating in the "kitchen/dining room" with a beautiful view of the square with the historic church. Excellent access to the WinterGardens.

Narrow winding staircase, which can be difficult for some to get to the floor, even with luggage. It didn't cause us any problems, but older or less mobile people, or with bulky or heavy luggage, may have a problem. The beds were very soft for my taste (I'm used to much harder ones), but surprisingly I didn't feel any discomfort and slept well.
