Castro Hotel Syros

The breakfast was good (see the picture) and the location was okay. Close to the port, no stairs or uphill to get to the hotel - it’s perfect for elderly people or people with mobility issues. The receptionists are friendly and proactive: they offered me to keep my luggage in the hotel after check out cause I wanted to explore the city.

The room is small on the first floor is small. There is no separate room for the bathroom meaning it is separated from the sleeping area by a divider that looks like wardrobe doors. My room windows faced the wall of the opposite house. Ermoupoli is popular for its stunning views, so when booking the room I mentioned that I would like a room with a view and a balcony, if available, but when I arrived the staff didn’t give me feedback on my request, maybe they didn’t see it. One night stay 136 eur, but there was not even a bottle of water for free in the room. Everything in the minibar, even still water, was for a charge (see the image). Nit critical, but not something you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Also, I got a massage in the hotel spa which was pricey - 50 eur for 30 min - and pretty mediocre.

The facilities, location which was ideal and the building which was a period property tastefully restored. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Nicely tucked off in the narrow streets, with easy and quick access to clothing shops, restaurants and bars. It is a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal and provides you with a clean and friendly environment to rest your head.

Exceptional quality staff! Really made you feel relaxed and comfortable! Highly recommended.
