Staybridge Suites - Cardiff by IHG

The size of the room, the use of a full working kitchen (dishwasher too! Madness) not that we used anything more than the kettle and the fridge, the option if we wanted to was fabulous. The beautiful view of the wharf from our window. The lovely sunny terrace. It was immaculate with a lovely shower and the most comfortable bed too The complimentary breakfast was also a winner

£10 parking a night felt a bit steep, but for ease we paid it. That said upon returning back to the hotel around 11.30pm the carpark was so overfull there were people just abandoning cars all over the place, both inside and outside of the barriers. Thankfully we had left the car and walked into the bay so we didn't have to contend with the shambles of a carpark ourselves

It was clean and modern and the location was convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was the worst breakfast experience of any hotel we’ve stayed in. The first day was ok not a great deal of choice but otherwise ok. The Friday and Saturday were awful. We came down and there were no tables that weren’t occupied or full of dishes. There were no plates, cups or bowls and the one staff member that was there had had to recruit a member of reception to help. We only got a table by clearing dishes ourselves. Lots of food was missing for example there was no bacon. The following day we had to go back up to our room to get some semi skimmed milk as there was none available. The area felt isolated and intimidating at night. There were a few lights around the docks but it was very dark and it felt uncomfortable walking back at night.

Easy access and close to city centre

Limited parking spaces and the sofa bed was on the floor, not good for me with bad knees and back

The room and facilities were the best we have stayed in recently. The bed was comfortable but the pillows needed replacing. We liked how close it was to both the city centre and the bay.

There could have been a net curtain up in our room (102) for privacy, we had to have the curtains closed for the whole visit. The breakfast was disappointing and having to perch in an alcove where the table was too big didn't help. The breakfast was limited in hot options and the queue for the toaster was silly. Also not enough tables for the number of people wanting to eat.

Friendly staff, easy check in and out, the room was clean and nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable.

Breakfast was disorganized and very busy.
