Dormio Gasthof Höllwirt

When we arrived, it was the off season. Most restaurants, shops, and hotels were closed. However, we were upgraded to a stay at Dormio Resort Obertraun and it was beautiful. Right by the lake. The food was also delicious and the staff helpful and friendly.

We walked from the train station to this hotel to find a sign on the door directing us to go back past the train station and check in at the other hotel because this hotel was closed during the short off season. It would have been nice to know before arriving that we needed to check in at the different hotel.

Big and spaceous room with lots of areas to store your luggage. The same stands for the bathroom as well. It was the cheapest at the time I did the reservation, however, it turned out that the Dormio Resort was cheaper than the Gasthof Höllwirt. That's a pitty because the Dormio Resort seemed nicer.

Different location for the check in while the room is located on a completely different area. On top of that there was personnel during the check in. They had to be there since we arrived between the working hours of the reception. We wanted to tell them if there was a room in the Dormio Resort istead of the Gasthof Höllwirt that we stayed but there was no person to ask. The place were the Gasthof Höllwirt is located was kind of spooky. The building seemed like it was abandonded. Huge mistake, the fact that they don't have black out curtains.

Some basic utility items were missing like bathrobes, room slippers, liquid soap in the bathroom etc. Also a big dissapointment was even though there was a kettle in the room there were no coffee or milk capsules, sugar, or anything. No items in the mini bar. NO WATER also for emergency. We expected much better amenities. Not worth the money.

The location is just amazing. The staff was generally friendly and even took care of our special requests for the rooms. Rooms are very spacious and have a cozy atmosphere. Bug enough for a couple. The bathroom was big with modern amenities. The bed was nicely done. It was amazing to see snow capped peaks right outside the window. That was a big highlight for us.

Instructions for room check-in were not sent in advance. We had to walk back 20mins for check-in. Unfortunately did koy read the reviews earlier about a similar experience. There was no communication and this was a big negative for us. The room was not very clean. There were cobwebs and dirt and other stuff from previous guests.

There was no staff at the property when we reached. It felt like a deserted house. Check-in time was 2 PM and that is when the caretaker arrived to set up our room. We had to wait 30 mins outside the room while the sheets were replaced. Also, for the breakfast, we were told to walk 1km to a different resort of which this house was part of. Very dissatisfied.

Obertraun is really beautiful and Hallstatt is also nearby. Easy to find the Appartements. Nice view of the mountains. spacious room and nice bathroom at least for one the rooms.

Check in was in a different location, in Obertraun Resort and we weren’t informed about that so by luck a lady cleaning the dormitory informed me about it. unless I missed it. In general it could have been a bit cleaner and the second room didn’t have a very nice bathroom.
