When we finally checked out, we were asked to wait while the staff checked our room. I’m not sure if they expected us to damage things because we were upset or what, but it felt degrading. Stay far away. Or better yet, stay in Jan Theil. We spent an extra night at the Bike and Bed there instead of extending our stay at Freedom and it was night and day better.

Location was ok. Other than that, this place was a nightmare. We started with a room directly in front of the pool. The pool was supposed to close at 7. Around 11pm, my wife and I were trying to get some sleep and were kept up by a group of guys playing loud music at the pool outside our door. I messaged the reception and never got a reply. I ended up just asking the guys to quiet down and they seemed just to ignore me. When I woke up the next morning and exited the bed I noticed the sheets were stained with urine. Upon closer inspection, there was also a footprint next to the stain that did not match any of our shoes. I realized then, that the sheets had not been changed since the last guests. We contacted the front desk and they offered free breakfast. We were pretty disgusted but balanced trying to find a new hotel and losing precious time on our trip. The shower used an individual water heater - somehow, despite having two handles, the only way to manage the heat was to change the switches on the heater, the knobs both ran hot water. Almost no water pressure around 6 PM, ostensibly due to usage at that time. Did I mention the mosquito plastered to our bathroom wall when we came in. Yeah, it feels petty and we’re usually pretty tolerant to a lot of things (the wife is a flight attendant and we travel often), but this place was gross.
