Hol Chan Reef Resort & Villas

To be honest, I really don't want to write this review because selfishly I want this hotel and Ambergris Caye to stay our little secret. Our condo was spotless. Dennis was amazing and provided prompt reservations, insider tips, and recommendations. Richard booked a snorkeling trip for us and went out of his way to tailor it to our special requests. Edward makes the poolside drinks just like you like them. The size of the resort is perfect, enough guests to have a fun vibe but not so many that you couldn't always get a comfy lounge chair without having to come down at down and stake out your spot. We loved coffee on those beautiful balconies, watching crabs next to the seawall, and discovering new restaurants in town. Make sure you reserve a golf cart and explore the whole island.

There wasn't a thing I would change about the resort but visitors to the area should understand that San Pedro doesn't have the facade of a Bahamas location. All the restaurants and shops we visited were wonderful but parts of the town feel a little unclean. We liked that tourists aren't funneled into only fake areas of town but just something visitors should know.

Phenomenal. It is small and quiet. Everyone is so friendly. It is very clean and just beautiful.

Very nice resort. Very clean and well appointed and equipped rooms. Good pools and pleasant oceanfront, but ocean swimming limited. Surroundings a little rough and main road condition could be better but there was a lot of construction and heavy truck traffic going on.

Just finished up a 9 day stay in Belize and stayed at Hol Chan villas. The condo was beautiful and well taken care of inside and out. They arranged all Of our transportation to and from airport as well as golf carts. It is a little Out of town but we loved that part of it. Felt nice to have a relaxing quiet area to come home to or spend a leisurely day. Most of our tours were handled by Suya tours and we were able to be picked up at our dock for all of them. The guides were so friendly and helpful! The concierge Richard handled most everything for us before we even arrived. Management was always around insuring everyone had what they needed and that you were enjoying your stay! Highly recommend Hol Chan and Suya tours! Can’t wait for our next visit!

Great 6 days at Hol Chan Reef Resort. Well cared for property, large 3 bedroom unit with full kitchen and excellent AC. Loved the pool and beach loungers + hammock on the dock. Our snorkeling tour boat scooped us up directly from our dock. 15 min golf cart ride up a bumpy unpaved road…annoying on day 1 but kinda became fun and part of the adventure.

Nice place for sure. Way more space than my wife and I needed but oh well. The beds were nice with good sheets. We did our own cooking so it was nice to have quality cookware including nonstick pans for eggs. A view of the ocean side vs the lagoon side would have been nicer but we got the sunsets from this side so that was cool. Somebody even dropped off fresh pico and punch in our fridge the first day while we were out :). We were scuba diving most days we were there so it was nice to be picked up by boat from the dock vs the 20 min golf cart ride back to town. It was nice being out of down town San Pedro for a few.

Wonderful staff with a wonderful community in the area.

There are both positives and negatives to this resort. Starting with the positives, the views are absolutely stunning, and the suites themselves are quite nice. Unfortunately, there were far more negatives than positives during our stay. We traveled as a large family, including couples, seniors, and kids, and rented two different suites. Since we had two families in each suite, we requested two keys, which the resort could not provide. This became a major issue because the deadbolt on one of the doors (3B) could only be opened with a key, both inside and outside. We didn’t realize this until one person left and locked the door behind them. We ended up locked inside, and when we called the concierge for help, no one showed up with a key to let us out. We had to wait hours until our family member returned to unlock the door. To make matters worse, the elevator broke during our stay, and my elderly father got stuck on it!!! He had to jump 6 feet out of the elevator when someone finally found him. He could have been seriously hurt, and there was no apology or follow-up from the resort!! To add to the frustration, my elderly mother, who has a disability, had to walk up three flights of stairs for a day and a half until the elevator was repaired. The concierge also caused some significant problems. Although she organized several things for us (golf carts, restaurant reservations, and a private chef) I would strongly advise anyone staying here to avoid blindly following her recommendations. The restaurants she suggested served overpriced, terrible food. The golf carts we rented had multiple issues, including broken lights, which made driving in the dark dangerous. The resort is far from town, so those lights were needed. The biggest problem is that when I raised these concerns with the concierge, she was dismissive. She even went as far as questioning me about why we "locked the deadbolt on the door?" when I brought up getting locked in. I told her this is a fire hazard, and she shouldn't be questioning me on why I choose to lock a door. Imagine if there was an emergency and we are locked into a room 3 stories up with no way out! Unbelievable. In the end, the beautiful views just weren’t enough to make up for the many issues we faced. If you decide to stay here, I highly recommend doing your own research and booking your own restaurants, golf carts, and activities. Also, make sure that your room can be exited in case of an emergency.

Lot of staff. Good comms. Spacious condo units run by a management company. Bit far south means quiet but also bumpy 20min ride to town. One of our party took a fall in a boat on a tour arranged by management. Not really their fault. They were very supportive & communicative to get her down to the hospital to be checked out. Would recommend the place. Just know what you’re getting into with the location. It’s not the time but the very bumpy ride to keep in mind but that’s also why it’s quieter.
