To the entire team at The Ritz-Carlton, Harbin,
Thank you for giving us a stay that didn’t feel like “hospitality,” but something far rarer: family.
From the moment we arrived, we felt seen, remembered, and cared for in a way that went far beyond service. Every day was filled with warmth, not the polite kind, but the kind you can feel in the smallest details: the quiet check-ins, the thoughtful gestures, the gentle way you anticipated needs we hadn’t even spoken out loud. It’s not easy to describe how deeply that level of care touches a person, but here, it felt constant. Effortless. Real.
And then there were the gifts, endless little surprises, from chocolates to cookies to stuffed toys, that made us smile again and again. Not because of the value, but because of the meaning behind them. Each one felt like someone had paused their busy day to think: How can we make them feel loved today? The same goes for the food and water, truly endless, beautifully prepared, generously offered, and always delivered with so much sincerity that it felt like being welcomed to someone’s home rather than staying in a hotel.
What moved us the most is that your care never felt rehearsed or transactional. It felt like it came from the deepest part of the heart, the kind of kindness that doesn’t need to announce itself, because it’s simply who you are.
We want to give special thanks to a staff member at the restaurant named Purple. Purple, you were extraordinary. You didn’t just serve us , you carried our experience with a tenderness we will never forget. The way you cared for the kid was beyond anything we expected. You went above and beyond every single day to make sure she was happy, comfortable, and included. You noticed the little things that children don’t always know how to ask for. You made her feel safe. You made her feel special. You made her feel like she belonged.
And that is why leaving was so hard.
On our last day, Adelyn didn’t just say goodbye to a hotel, she said goodbye to a place that had become part of her memory. She was genuinely sad to leave, watching that was both beautiful and emotional. Because it told us the truth: this wasn’t simply a great stay. This was a memory that will stay with her as something warm and formative, a reminder that kindness exists, that people can be gentle, that strangers can become familiar, and that care can be given freely and sincerely.
To Purple and to every staff member who contributed to this experience: thank you for treating us not like guests, but like your own. Thank you for the generosity, the patience, the constant smiles, the incredible food (especially the continental breakfast, was really unbelievably good), and the thoughtful gifts, but most of all, thank you for the love behind it all.
The Ritz-Carlton, Harbin will forever be a special place for us, not because it is luxurious (though it absolutely is), but because it is full of heart. We arrived as travelers, and we left feeling like we were leaving family.
With deep gratitude and affection
