Residence Inn by Marriott Detroit Sterling Heights

Beautiful

I travel a lot for work, enough so that I’m a Marriott platinum member. We stayed one night at the courtyard, Detroit Utica because it was closer to the event center we needed to be at. I overlooked Residence inn initially because it was a couple miles further down the road. What a mistake that was. We should’ve stayed at this hotel from the get-go. After having a horrible time with dirty hotel: moldy bathroom and shower curtain, mold I. Register vents. We moved the residence inn. This is a newer building, clean accommodations, and friendly staff.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in barring dives and dumps where you pay by the hour! The garbage can was left in the room still full, as well as a large paper bag full of half eaten fast food. It was already starting to stink up the room! It was totally disgusting. The dishcloth towels in the kitchenette were stinky and not cleaned, probably left over from the previous guests. And to top it all off, they not only messed up my bill when I checked out, but all three of my business colleague's bills as well. My advice to anyone travelling in the area...book elsewhere...it's that simple. I will never return.

I was in town for a Boat Show and had numerous deliveries made to the hotel and the front desk made sure that I was notified when something arrived and kept everything stored until I got it. Excellent staff…

We were exhausted after a long car ride. The Residence Inn was quiet, clean and comfortable. Second time we stayed here and will do it again.

Second stay here in the past 60 days. New hotel, clean comfortable rooms. Great location. This new hotel is poorly managed. Both visits we had an unpleasant breakfast experience. Constantly running out of food items and coffee and no one to replenish them. No towels in the pool or fitness center. When I asked at front desk, I was told that they were in the wash. So I asked for regular room towels….none available. We were told that they were sold out the night before and no towels were available. It was not uncommon to try to call down to the front desk and be placed on hold 7+ minutes. Nice addition to the area for Marriott, but much improvement is needed
