Aloft by Marriott Providence Downtown

This hotel sacrifices basic comforts for (pretty cringey) style. Bathroom had no door (curtain instead) and only a partial wall separating the area from the rest of the room. The toilet had a pocket door, but be very comfortable sharing your friends' and family's bathroom habits before booking here. Room meant to accommodate 4 people had a total of 4 hangers on an open rod by the door. No place to hang hand or bath towels (we used the precious hangers.) Automatic night light in bathroom wall socket shines through the spaces in the partial wall directly onto the pillows of one of the beds. Toilet did not work consistently—we were told we were not “flushing it hard enough.” Could not wait to leave. But the room did have a throw pillow with the word “POW!” in comic-booky letters, if that's your thing…

We visited both Bars and had a blast! Staff was so kind and helpful when needed. New in town gave lots of fun things to do within walking distance. Will book here again!

Great new hotel. Rooftop restaurant a clear crowd favorite. Great staff all over! They think outside of the box to help you out of any situation you find yourself.

**** Update I am on day 2 of calls to Priceline to resolve error made at A Loft. A Loft staff refused to address it when I called and when Priceline called they were told that the manager would resolve that issue when he came in. He was due to arrive at 3 pm yesterday. I don't understand why an organization in such a competitive field would offer such a poor customer experience but I will be avoiding A Loft everywhere I travel. I will probably use Expedia instead of Priceline as well. *** Hotel is well situated for a stay in downtown Providence. Room was on the small side and had an unorthodox set up with a shower that was transparent and open to the "bedroom portion of the room. I was double charged( once by Priceline and once by hotel staff) when I caught this on my bill I called the hotel who told my they couldn't do anything and to call Priceline. I called Priceline who then had to call the hotel while I was on hold. Took 5 calls and 1.5 hours. Waiting on their manager to possibly take action. Terrible service and complete lack of care.

I did not like the smell of the cleaning fluid used to clean the hallways and rooms.

Aloft is casual type of Marriott Brands, waz it? A litle bit different from my prior expectations.

The hotel is really nice. We loved our room and we really loved the staff.

This certainly seems like a brand new hotel and while the physical plant was outstanding, it really was the staff who were all very friendly and engaging, and thus make this place AWESOME!! They really made us feel very welcome, and we look forward to coming back. Next time we are going to get one of the suites, that looks out at the park/river. The cleaning staff very graciously gave us a tour of one when we had peeked our noses in while walking out one day. It was obvious to me that they folks took a lot of pride in thier hotel. I cannot say enough about Aloft and would recommend it here in RI, and urge you to look at one of thier many other locations.
