Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection By Hilton

We stayed one night at the Hotel Marcel on a railfanning vacation because it was closest hotel to the New Haven Union train station. There's even a paved pedestrian path from the back of the IKEA parking lot, along the fenced train yard, and comes out on Water Street. I didn't know about this walking path until the Google Maps walking option directed me there. Sweet. Every aspect of my hotel stay was perfect, from arrival to departure. Thank you. Every staff member I interacted with was super helpful, professional, and polite. (front desk, restaurant, bartender, shuttle driver.) Despite the Minecraft vibes on the outside, the building is extremely attractive on the inside. Everything looks really new and modern (is this a recent renovation?). My teen liked the tablet built-in to the wall to control the room (shades mechanism, temperature, every light in the entire room.) I booked the "Deluxe" Two Queens and it was definitely worth the few extra dollars for the spaciousness. The room was bigger than I expected. Bathroom was nice - it matched the room's clean modern look. (After taking a shower here, I'm ashamed to go home to my own circa-1986 bathroom LOL.) The price was right for the value I received. The restaurant had delicious food (salad with grilled chicken), and the staff didn't hesitate to help when I asked for something not explicitly listed on the menu. Thank you for being so accommodating. Since the hotel shares a parking lot with IKEA, we visited IKEA too and followed the arrows on the showroom path. Haven't been to an IKEA in awhile so that was fun.

Very interesting architectural landmark converted into hotel and rather the exception than the rule geared towards climate friendly resources management. Complimentary driver to downtown, restaurant with nicely prepared dishes and local produce

The location is not great but due to its industrial past

Stayed here due to all the good reviews, and now I am utterly confused about them. I thought this place was more than subpar. It was obviously not built as a hotel and will never work as a hotel. Strange room layouts (first time I see "a suite" that has no separation of any kind between the bed and the living area - that's called a _studio_, and calling it a suite is dishonest); awkward and tiny bathrooms; ZERO soundproofing between rooms (you will hear every word your neighbors or their TVs are saying), and yes, a ton of noise from the highway outside. Industrial waste landscape on a river sold as "water views' . Just one frustrating thing after another. The only good thing about this hotel, the free shuttle with its very nice driver, George, does not make it worth it. I will never stay here again, and would not recommend it.

What a beautiful high tech property! Loved that the lights and shades could be controlled from bedside, that the bathroom nightlight was motion activated, and especially loved the complimentary use of the reusable water bottle and refillable stations on every floor. Christian in the bar was awesome. Very knowledgeable on the hotel's history and offered great recommendations for food and drink on the menu when there were too many great choices for me to decide. Giancarlo at the front desk was especially gracious and helpful addressing my concerns and providing excellent and sincere customer service.
