Hotel Don Ernesto By La Chimba

The place was very clean but, aged. Food was very good. NO A/C or HEAT! NO TV! We stayed in the main building.

Wonderful location

The descriptions were a little misleading. There is no airport transportation and the hotel will not help you arrange it. There was no veranda. They list a lot of activities, but there are none on site and they dont facilitate them. There are spaces you can do yoga, but no mats or classes. I had to carry my luggage uphill on a rocky trail in the dark without staff assistance - this may not be a suitable choice for older solo travelers like me.

Initial arrival at the property was such a weight off my shoulders. The general atmosphere and ambiance is warm and welcoming with nature blooming in every direction. Check in was simple and the receptionist was courteous enough to show me the grounds. The panoramic room was amazing! Everything you need, from dining to adventures & trails, are right on the grounds. Overall it was a great stay and i’m certain i’ll stay again during my next visit to the country!

Beautiful view, many activities near by, all cabins looked beautiful and like a little piece of history. The typical breakfast, which is the only one included in the price, was delicious. Since you stay up high the temperature and the air were refreshing.

One of the double rooms had a strong odor, as if it was freshly painted, which made it difficult to sleep. It would also be nice, if there was a mosquito net in all of the openable windows.

The location and view is amazing. That really really sells the place. It's tranquil, not too far from the city, and it gives this serene vibe. In the weekends it gives' lover's paradise'. The gardener always greeted us, he was super sweet. He was the only one who checked in with me, to asked if my mom was alright after she got really sick. There was one reception lady who was the sweetest. OMG! I didn't catch her name, but may she be met with abundance.

Everyday the breakfast was the same. No other options or variations, just rice with peas, egg, plantain and sausage. There was a menu card in the room with more options, so that was misleading and disappointing. It is not the place for vegan's vegetarian, or people who desire variations. More so, they don't always tell you upfront that when you order a fresh drink instead of tea for an inclusive breakfast stay that you actually have to pay for it. My mom got really sick. Like really sick and when I went to ask for a aspirine at the reception, I was not met with any help or understanding Our last day my mom even lost consciousness for a second at breakfast, and a visitor helped me get her to her room, NOT staff. So if you are really in need of help, this wouldn't be the place to stay. The room wasn't always cleaned/made up - even when we had a card by the door. If you are afraid of cockroaches - don't bother coming. Other than that, the insects are an all time low, for something surrounded by nature. Return - airport transport is not provided. We asked and she told us to just order an uber. Finger's crossed that they can find it in the dark, because dark it gets. If you don't speak an ounce of Spanish, come with google translate, because most don't speak an ounce of English. We've seen others struggle to communicate their wants and needs.

This property is so so beautiful. You’re completely surrounded by lush plants and trees and just submerged in nature. The rooms are so cute, comfortable and have an open nature feel. I stayed in the mango, luxury room which is perfect for a couple or solo traveler. They have breakfast and dinner available on site to order. During the day you obviously have to go off site to hydrate and eat. Housekeeping was nice to keep your room nice and tidy. The staff was nice and patient if you do not speak the language. I would highly recommend staying here.
