Hotel Don Ernesto By La Chimba

The property was amazing with incredible views, tucked away from the busy world. We booked this for one night so we could recover from our flight before we had a long drive to our next location and I wish we had stayed longer. The room was massive and lovely, the pool was gorgeous and we it had to ourselves first thing before we left to walk the Mantra trail which is right on the doorstep and was worth a visit.

While we didn’t mind it’s worth mentioning that the road up to the hotel was steep, the kind that when you are driving up you are looking directly into the sun and felt like the car would tip backwards at any moment, but it’s all part of the adventure. Also when we came to check out there was no one to be found a bit like a ghost town so left our keys and off we went.

Breakfast is amazing !!! And the staff and security are so helpful and wonderful!! Very knowledged on the property as well, just make sure you have bug repellent before going to your room, a lot of insects but with the repellent it wasn’t bad. Also no tvs no microwave and no fan or AC just be mindful about this. It is the ultimate getaway for sure for peace and quiet. But the bar el gato on the property is soooo cute and the drinks are delicious, see Yahaira the bartender she was so great!!! Also Daniela and Gabriela from reception are so knowledgeable and sweet! They really cater to you , Alvaro the security guard made sure we were super safe. Overall 5 stars !

The place is a hidden secret. The property is beautiful, and the staff was exceptional. The history of this place was so interesting. The food and waiter were amazing. I'm sitting on the terrace in the morning with my cup of coffee. Listening to the bitds wake up was Paridise. The furniture is beautiful and the bed was extra comfortable. I got a massage and worth every penny (colone) Great way for me & my husband to spend our 17th anniversary. Thank you all!

The recepcionist didnt give me enough information to enjoy the place or even to find the place to eat. They charge for everything like the translation from the hotel to the restaurant that is not walkable and is part of the hacienda. A lot of ants in the roll. No door in the bathroom

Precio MUY alto con respecto a la calidad. Nos tocó una habitación cuyo baño (ducha e inodoro) no tenía paredes ni puerta para separar de la recámara, sólo lo separaba un ropero. Nos cambiaron de habitación, el joven de la recepción no tuvo la cortesía de ayudarnos con las maletas. Luego, para almorzar tienes que caminar 600 o 700 metros para llegar a un restaurante dentro de la hacienda, detalle que no mencionan antes de agendar, en mi caso sufro de problemas de rodilla. Ya abajo me dijeron que hay carro de golf de regreso por el costo de $10 (la recepcionista no lo mencionó antes). En la mañana, nos despertó alguien cerca de la habitación que estaba acomodando muebles, o al menos así se escuchaba, él, con voz muy alta, estaba hablando muy despectivamente con otro acerca de una cliente. En la noche, el restaurante debería ser cuidadoso con el volumen de la música ya que se supone que uno va para desconectarse y por eso ellos dicen que no hay TV en las habitaciones. El restaurante que es para desayunar y cenar sí está cerca. Reconozco que las chicas y el señor que atienden en el restaurante y bar fueron muy educados.

The road to the hotel is super steep. I prayed while driving up that my car wouldnt roll back. Besides that if you are looking to be fully unplugged then this is for you. My room had no tv or refrigerator. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The overall setting is a little dated but okay. The restaurant has decent food however the free breakfast begins at 8am which seemed late to me. Alot of insects. You truly hear nature in the morning as well. The view over looking the valley is absolutely priceless.
