The Old Coastguard House

Great Location, just across the road from the seafront. An easy walk down to the pier and into town. Lots of space for seven of us (three generations), and parking permits for two cars. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds and sofas. We spent lots of time in the upstairs lounge, looking out to the sea. The property used to be two flats, so has a kitchen and bathroom on each floor.

We really liked the house but it was sadly let down by cleaning and maintenance. Bedding and towels were fresh but the house could do with a deep clean. We needed to clean out the plug holes in both baths because the plugs wouldn’t close or drain water. The insides of the windows were dirty and we had to clean the floor into the utility room after slipping on it because it was so greasy. Front and back gardens looked uncared for. It’s a real shame because this is a lovely property and with a bit more care and eye for detail, it could be amazing.

Location spacious. Having two lounges was great it worked well as we had a Carer with us. There is a safe walled garden and a small courtyard outside by the front door. The property private and majestic.

There is a step down to the ground-floor bathroom and a step down into ground-floor kitchen, problematic for those with mobility difficulties. There are 2 wide steps up to the front door.

We loved the size of the property, perfect for a group. All very large bedrooms and a couple of areas to chill out together. Also the location on the front was ideal, so close to everything.

Ann was fantastic, the house was lovely with beautiful views of the sea. It was extremely comfortable.

Understandably for the age of the property, bathrooms a little tired and windows not easy to maneuver if rooms get too hot.
