Aurora Collection

Originally we planned to stay in a hotel further up North in Ivalo but as we couldn’t manage to find the availability we decided to stay in Aurora Collection between 24-26th December and this was one of the best decisions during our entire Finland trip ! If you’re having any second thoughts , DO NOT! Just go ahead and make the booking :) Pros: 1) The rooms are very well maintained , spacious and clean. 2) The staff are amazing , they can drive you to nearby restaurant for lunch/dinner if you do not have a car. 3) The hotel canceled our Northern Lights tour due to poor weather, rescheduling it for the next day when chances were better. This Is so unlike typical tour companies or hotels that wouldn’t prioritize the guest experience. 4) As we stayed during Christmas Eve , they got a Santa to visit every room , which was a nice added touch ! 5) Jacuzzi was a nice touch as well , we tried when it was snowing and was warm enough ! Cons: 1) There is no onsite restaurant and breakfast is same everyday ! So might get a bit boring after a few days 2) When we went to the Aurora hunt it would have been good to have some hot tea as it was very cold outside !

Staff are friendly and always ready for help.

It would be great if someone notify you about the aurora once it’s out. Because we missed it while we were sitting inside the villa.

very nice staff, comfortable beds but some things we weren't happy with/could be improved: -when we arrived, there were makeup stains in the bathroom sink that were not cleaned -we felt that it was not worth the price- we stayed in an arctic spa suite and the windows faced a busy road with several street lights so the views were not what we expected -the fence around the outdoor jacuzzi is very high so we could not see northern lights while sitting in the jacuzzi- we had to stand up -breakfast is low quality

The cabin with the glass walls was simply amazing allowing us to enjoy the view from the comfort of our bed. The private sauna definitely a plus

On our arrival we were told that the jacuzzi of our cabin was broken and we were given the alternative of using one of a different cabin which was pretty uncomfortable and we ended up not doing it. Then the next day they “fixed” ours but the water was cold. Also we asked for an early breakfast at 8 o’clock instead of 9 because we booked an activity for that time, about which they totally forgot but luckily managed to bring it to us on time after another request. Another thing we didn’t like was the shower, which was built in a weird way wetting the entire bathroom when using it

+ The view from the window at daytime (when it gets dark, there is a lot of light from the street lamps and the passing cars) + The sauna (although it is extremely small, you cannot lay down, unless you are extremely small) + The open air whirlpool + The included transport service

- The breakfast was extremely basic (1 type of cheese which tasted like nothing, a consistency like rubber, 1 spoon of chocolate cream, 1 cold egg, something like butter(?)) - when we asked for getting at least a little bit of fish or another/real cheese or anything else to put on the bread, they said they would take care of it, but nothing changed until the end of our stay, which is -to be honest- really poor for such a (apparently) luxurious, high-priced accommodation. - The equipment was inadequate and insufficient: You have a sauna, but you have to ask pro-actively for sauna towels to becoming able to use the sauna. There is no table that you can use for having your breakfast - there is only a tiny couch table. Furthermore they give you disposable cutlery, which is not only impractical, but out of date - the opposite of sustainable, responsible and progressive thinking and action. You are obliged to go out for lunch and dinner as there isn't even a sink to wash your glasses or cups in, and no microwave or anything like that to cater for yourself. So your stay becomes even more expensive. - The service team was mostly friendly, but very unexperienced/not professionally educated, which we unfortunately noticed in many different occasions. These aspects cancel out the price-performance ratio. And we have experienced a lot of hotels and accommodations, also in Lapland for less money and much higher quality. I hope that this recommendation helps to take the right decision for the customer on the one hand, and to improve the accommodation and its quality on the other hand.

Amazing experience in this hotel ... magical place. The staff was very polite. They have a car service that take you around saariselka and the activities. We were in a group of 12 people (with 6 children) and several activities... everything was perfect ... rooms are nice and the landscaping is amazing ! Thanks the team for the amazing experience
