Isle of Skye Guest house

Very poor considering the cost, didn’t see anyone related to the hotel from the moment we arrived until we left, piles of dirty breakfast dished in the lounge, more reminiscent of an large empty nursing home than a guest house,

Garbage bin outside building was overflowing when we arrived, was still the same 2 days later when we left. In the guest lounge/dining area they have a sign that says breakfast is 6AM to 10AM, but it is just cereal, cereal bars and a fridge with milk and yogurt that is available all day. The sign almost implied that something else would be available during the breakfast hours, but there isn't. There is a toaster in the breakfast area, but no bread or anything available to toast. For the price paid, would have expected more.

The property is old and quaint. Clean and quiet. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired I would suggest going out or picking up and keeping in the tiny fridge. Overall, it was ok.

Not a good stay at all! The room was clean. However the breakfast area which is serve yourself cereals etc was dirty, bin overflowing food left around and we were down early at 7.45. The major problem is the property has no staff present. We were woken up at midnight and kept awake till after 1.30 by two rooms of the same family who were constantly shouting talking in the corridor slamming doors etc. had there been staff present we could have asked for it to be dealt with.

The breakfast bar was a terrible mess. Dirty dishes…nothing cleaned…on both mornings of my stay I had to clean a few dishes so I had utensils to eat with. Otherwise, the rooms were ok.

Easy to get to and away from the crowds

I travel a lot for work and stay away 4-5 months of the year. This place was perfect, and was a lot more geared up for women (e.g. a socket below a mirror) than many places. Greeted by a lovely guy, the guest house smelt lovely, and my room was clean, with information packs. Lovely huge fluffy towels, kettle, clean bedding and a very comfortable bed. Plenty of parking, and the continental breakfast was great - fridge full of yogurt, breakfast bars and cereal. Ideally located just off the bridge, it's a find and somewhere I'd never stayed before on Skye but have recommended it to my company. In many places nowadays you don't even get breakfast options, so it was much appreciated by myself. My own complaint was noisy guests, but you get those everywhere.

Our code did not work on our second day thankfully we had friends and family staying. We could get in with their Code otherwise with no service staff around I am afraid we would've had trouble getting into the building. Breakfast was terrible no cups for coffee or tea no silverware to use.

Just off the roundabout over the Skye bridge this is a fantastic base for travelling around Isle of Skye. We had a twin bed garden room which is situated around the side and to the rear of the main house, this would have been helpful to know in the welcome email giving you the access code and room number as would have saved time trying to locate our room in the main house. In the main house is a communal lounge and breakfast room offering complimentary cereal boxes, porridge pots, cereal bars and yogurts which can also be taken to your room to be consumed. In our room we overlooked a roughly grassed playing area for kids to play football, with nets provided, but saw a deer with her 2 offspring playing around whilst mum was eating berries from the hedgerow. Another plus was the available parking both to the main house and garden rooms
