"Great location, lovely cottage"

7.0

Location was perfect. Access easy. Fish and chip shop below gave us a discount as we were staying above. Great fish and chips too!

The cottage was clean- but there were some areas that weren't as clean as could be- e.g. when we moved the toaster the work counter was dirty underneath. Also there were cobwebs in the corner of the bedroom on the floor. Having a dishcloth, scourer and washing up liquid int he kitchen and hand soap in the bathroom on arrival would have been better too. Had to go out and buy.

The location of this property is absolutely brilliant. Within walking distance to several pubs, pretty village walks and amazing hikes. Location wise you’ll struggle to beat it. The lady who manages it was amazing when I explained we were shift workers and she enabled us to check in early with no fuss. That was very appreciated so thank you.

Left with only half a toilet roll for a weekend stay for 5. That wasn’t ideal at all. The shower needs to be fixed - the head is broken. Unloading luggage can be tricky but between us we managed fine

The location is excellent, right in the centre of the village.

The properly is a bit tired, for example the bathroom door is difficult to shut, the crockery is mismatched and chipped, there are only 2 wine glasses for a property that sleeps up to 6? There is literally no outside space as the neighbours make it clear that the outside area is their private property.

Right in middle of the village. Authentic old building.

Old shower curtain that was dity and fell down several times. Shame as made the bathroom damp.

Fabulous location in the wonderful village of Castleton. Cottage was clean with plenty of towels and decked out with a well decorated Christmas tree. Beds were comfortable. The real benefit was the proximity to the many excellent pubs and cafes of Castleton. We found parking easy enough just outside the village. Despite the very strong winds and rain, managed the superb walk up Mam Tor and then along the Great Ridge to Lose Hill and down to Hope.

Bedrooms in the cottage were tight though that it the case for so many cottages in the Peak District. The kitchen was also confined and could do with more plates and mugs. The bathroom could do with a bit of updating - the shower curtain was a bit mucky. There is a huge TV - we didn't turn it on as had family chat and games. The side access up the stairs is quite risky in the wet so suggest the shared route with the adjoining cottage is used.
