"Great location but ......."

4.0

The location was excellent, with lots of places to eat and see.

The accommodation was a bit tired. The kitchen had no freezer for making ice for drinks . Wine glasses would have been nice so we had to drink fizz from a large water glasses . The slats in our bed popped out when I sat in one corner the bedrooms were small and cramped ..The bathroom was tired and needed re grouting and no extractor fan for condensation. The shower curtain was mouldy and some water went on the floor., Not a huge amount however the man from the fish and chips shop below came banging on our door and was quite angry saying that water was coming into his shop while I was showering . He told us to stop showering and stated that he would be informing the owner. We never heard from either the owner or fish shop owner but still used the shower. A welcome note on arrival from the owner started that the neighbours were not very neighbourly which made me wonder why , maybe if the property was maintained better there wouldn't be as many issues for the neighbours. We wouldn't stay here again the only plus point is the central location.

"Two nights in picturesque Castleton"

8.0

The location of cottage was ideal lots of walks from the door step and near the caves. A lovely view of the hills from the kitchen window. It was comfortable, spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet at night.

I couldn't open the window in one of the bedrooms and it was very warm. The gas oven and hob ignition button didn't work so we had to use the small lighter left in the cutlery tray and still couldn't lite the grill. The kitchen could do with a frying pan and more mugs too.

Location and ambience of traditional cottage with easy access to pub, tea rooms and local attractions

Lack of equipment. Eg 4 tea cups for a 6 person cottage. A slat was broken on one of the beds. It's expensive for its size.

"Comfy stay"

8.0

We had a comfortable stay. The beds were comfy, the shower was hot. Location was perfect and central to Castleton. Fridge, oven, microwave and kettle all provided. Would stay again.

Not a huge issue, but it’s worth noting there is no coffee, milk, shampoo, iron or hairdryer so take what you need if staying.

"We had a lovely time and your sweet little cottage- thank you."

8.0

Hello- we had a great weekend thank you. superb location… even managed to find a parking space which was lucky! the bedding and towels were brilliant. the cottage was immaculately clean and tidy.

We found the cottage quite chilly on arrival but soon figured out the heating/ thermostat. The curtain in the sitting room was unfortunately missing but not the end of the world. The note about the neighbours not being friendly was a little disconcerting but better to know than not I guess! one of us sat on the bed in the first double bedroom and the slats underneath were lose (just FYI they may need looking at)
