The Lark & Loon Inn

My husband and I enjoyed a one-night stay at the Lark & Loon Inn in early September 2025. Kevin and Lesley's welcome was warm and their hospitality genuine. The house is beautifully decorated, and our room and its adjoining bathroom suited us perfectly. It was an easy walk into town and back to obtain dinner. Breakfast was a treat! We were sorry that we'd only given ourselves a short time to travel the Evangeline Trail - Annapolis Royal and the surrounding area looked like they deserved more time.

It is a beautiful old house with attractive furnishings and comfortable beds. The breakfast was a communal experience which allowed for very pleasant conversation with the other guests.

We were warned to keep the shower curtain inside the tub to prevent leaks. Apparently 4 people had failed to do this in the last month causing water to leak through the ceiling below. We were meticulously careful. While my husband was showering on the second morning the owner knocked to say water was coming through the ceiling below. He wanted to come in immediately. My husband had already stopped the shower but was rushed to leave the bathroom. The owner conceded that there may be a leak after all. We went to breakfast where he served an overdone frittata and explained that it had been kept warm because we were late. 5 minutes caused by the bathroom drama! The other guests clearly believed that we had been represented as responsible for the leak due to carelessness. Despite having been at breakfast on time they were still subject to the owner’s urge to clear plates while they were still eating. While they were very friendly and informative about the area it was slightly annoying that Kevin the owner would stand at the end of the table, interrupt the table conversation and launch into an account of his life. It would be a more natural interaction if he were to sit down and join in the conversation.

Wunderschönes altes Haus, toll hergerichtet und ein Frühstück, so genial, dass es kaum zu beschreiben ist. Lesley und Kevin haben ihre Gäste super freundlich empfangen und versorgt und mit allen erdenklichen Informationen versorgt.

Delightful hosts and a building with a very interesting history

L'accueil de nos proprietaires et leurs conseils. Le charme de la maison et de sa decoration. La proximité avec le centre ville accessible à pied. Le petit-déjeuner copieux dont les delicieux "german-toast".

Highly recommend at least a two nights stay, unfortunately we only stayed one night. We had room no. 4 which was large and beautifully appointed. The whole house is full of history. The hosts Kevin & Lesley are delightful and knowledgeable and helpful. Kevin is like a walking history book and one is in awe at what he remembers. Fascinating. Annapolis Royal is also steeped in history. It is a lovely colourful town with beautiful houses. Thank you Kevin & Lesley for making our short stay so enjoyable.

Host’s knowledge of and recommendations for sightseeing all over Nova Scotia and his detailed knowledge of the history of the area and property. Walkability to dining, shopping, historical sites, the city’s formal gardens, and accessibilty to driving routes into and out of town. Ample on-site parking and easy-to-find location. Good value considering the breakfast and use of common areas in the house.

The Lark and Loon was a unique and fascinating b&b which provided a well appointed place to sleep and several comfortable, inviting common rooms to relax and reflect. Our hosts were friendly and attentive. The delicious breakfast was elegantly served. The L& L was a delightful find.
