Hilton Hiroshima

I wasn’t sure what to expect, since the Hilton hotels I have stayed at in the US have been hit or miss. I was completely blown away by how fantastic our experience here was. Room was enormous. It is generally difficult to find hotels in Japan that have rooms big enough for a family of four, but the Hilton Hiroshima’s twin executive corner room fit our family perfectly (my husband and I, our two boys 11 and 13). It had a lovely bathroom with a huge bathtub. Super clean, spotless. Comfortable, firm mattress. The view was great, we were on the 19th floor. The hotel has fantastic amenities. The pool was great - kids loved it. I wish I’d brought my bathing suit to take advantage of the sauna and cold tub. You have to wear a swim cap but they let us borrow some. We are honors members so we had our breakfast in the executive lounge on the 22nd floor. It was really a nice breakfast. We ate dinner in the teppanyaki on our first night and that was a memorable meal. Alex was really an excellent chef, and very nice to chat to as well. My son actually said the day after he wished we would have gone back for dinner again since he liked Alex and his cooking. The dinner was very expensive but we got so much delicious food and it was a great experience so we didn’t mind. Staff are really wonderful. Called taxis for us, exchanged towels, answered our questions, and were very friendly and professional. This set the stage for the whole trip and it really was such a great experience I wish we’d have stayed in Hiroshima longer!

The Hilton is everything you would expect, from the spacious room and friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional with plenty of variety. the drinks package was great for dinner, all you can drink in 1.5hrs including a machine that tilts and pours you a beer autonomously. The Hilton is within easy walking distance to the Hiroshima dome and museum, definitely make time to reflect at the memorial and museum which has a lot of artifacts. We will defiantly be returning to the Hilton Hiroshima, a slower laid back vibe compared to the other major cities we spent time in over the last 2 weeks.

Avoid Golden Week as the city population explodes with Japanese tourists for a week long festival. The day after the festival finished it felt like a ghost town...well almost.
