Renaissance New York Flushing Hotel at Tangram

My confidence in the Marriott name was waining, some very mediocre experiences in the past. “Necessity” being the mother of invention and an 8:00 AM flight from nearby LaGuardia Airport, gave me the perfect opportunity to try this Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Flushing, NY. The service at this hotel was the best I had ever experienced (in over 25 years of business and leisure travel). The bellman, who helped with all of our baggage needs (we had more than usual as we were returning from 2 months in Europe). was simply amazing (I am so sorry I did not ask him his name.)). The front desk receptionist…so very nice and polite…so very unusual in these days of “rack them and stack them”. Very pleased with service and the accommodations we went to bed concerned about the early morning trek to LaGuardia and getting our luggage down to and into the bus. At about 5:30AM we called the front desk for some help getting our luggage down to the bus, from our 10th floor room. I was told that there wasn’t anyone available at that early hour, but he would see what could be done. It seemed that almost like magic a young gentleman named “Ming” was at our door with a luggage cart ready to assist. Our jaw’s dropped open…it seemed like magic…before we knew it, we were boarding the bus and delighted to know that Ming was our bus driver…F A N T A S T I C…my best “ service” experience ever.

For a single night prices are insane!!! Place doesn’t offer free WiFi at the insane price. Property located off a little FILTHY and I’m mean Filthy road!!!!! Ac either blows really warm humid air or extremely cold air and no way to adjust the vent from blowing straight at your face. Not a fat chance I’d stay at this place again!

The service; the attention from staff; the view of the restaurant; food; it was great!

Staff so amazing and kind. Decor a bit different and funky. View amazing! Breakfast very good. Lounge access very good value for money. Pool and spa very nice. Highly recommend. They were wonderful with the kids.

Nothing.

When we arrived there was a load of hair and fluff under the fold of the duvet on the bed. Cleanliness is of upmost importance to us and this set the tone for our stay, room did not feel clean. We had to ask for sheets to be cleaned several times before it was actually done. Breakfast was very poor, virtually inedible, coffee machine not working and no other customers. Would not stay again.

Very disappointed with this stay. The room was not properly cleaned — the floor was dusty, and there were small flying insects in the bathroom, which felt very unhygienic. We asked to change rooms, but the second room had the same issue. We always stay here when visiting New York, but this time was a real disappointment. I hope the hotel seriously improves its cleanliness standards, otherwise we won’t be returning.

Over priced and mediocre.

Had choice between juice and coffee, chose juice. When asked for coffee it was an extra $6.00. We had prepaid for breakfast. On option was a so so croissant, which did not merit the prepaid breakfast. Rooms are very small; bathroom and shower also. Caveat emptor!
