Hona Beach Hotel

The location is good, right on the beach. Parking was very easy but on the street. The check in staff was friendly and welcoming. A bit less so at check out. The hotel is well organized with games you can use and free coffee/tea station all day long.

The common space is very dark and gives off a bit of a gloomy vibe. The breakfast is very basic. The room we were in was pretty run down, the airco was leaking water into the room and there were clear signs of water infiltration. The fan on the ceiling had not been cleaned in forever since it was full of dust that would go everywhere if you had the fan in action. During the night, we were woken up by insects crawling all over us. They were not there when we went to bed so we thought that was very strange. In any case, we were able to get a hold of the staff and were offered a room change, which we appreciated. The replacement room had no insects but was in the same shabby shape as the other one.

No TV

This is a "budget hotel" kind of situation. If you're looking for something right on the beach because you're going to spend most of your time on the beach, it's perfect for you. The staff is laid back and friendly, you can buy snacks and booze pretty much 24/7. The pool is nice. Bonus if you're with friends or family, there's a large stock of board games and other diversions. Strong internet. Good breakfast buffet. Dominical is very small, but know that this is about as far away as you can get from "town center." Come here for the beach right in front of you. The walk from town center at night is really dark.

My fault for not reading closely, but I was surprised to find no tv in the room. My room was quite small. Hot water in the shower was hit or miss. There's a bar really close next door with live bands on the weekends, and you're not going to sleep until they finish. No problem if you're staying up late. The music was good.

The location is excellent. The breakfast is excellent, truly excellent. Best pineapple I've ever had. The cooler in the lobby with Powerade, Pepsi, water, and beer was a life saver. The cat in the lobby was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The WiFi was good.

The ceiling fan began to make noise in the middle of the night. Would've been nice to have a simple ice bucket like many hotels have, as the area was humid and we drank so much water.
