Kings Arms Hotel

Easy check-in, great food (breakfast and dinner), friendly bar, clean room and fast wifi, parking garage for the bikes.

The rooms were a little small... but that's the only small negative.

It was conveniently located not far from the A74, which we were using to travel from the west coast of Scotland back home to Derbyshire. We wanted somewhere to stay for the night to break up the journey. The bed was beautifully comfortable with great pillows, the towels were big, soft and fluffy and the shower was very good. We arrived after dinner elsewhere and had a drink in the bar, which was nicely furnished and had lovely chairs. The staff were very friendly and the bar was fairly busy but not noisy. Breakfast the following morning was good and nicely cooked.

There was very little parking at the hotel, although we managed to find a spot on the street. The generator at the back was a little noisy overnight - the windows were open as it was warm, and my husband says it kept him awake, but I slept like a log and as it is usually the other way round, I have little sympathy! The decor is not as up to date as some hotels but it was perfectly acceptable.

Breakfast was fine.

Background noise from a fan or boiler was a bit annoying through the night. Struggled to find members of staff/or could not find staff especially when booking out.

Good, central location for our route up to the Highlands.

Parking is very limited but there is a free car park a few minutes walk away.

Location in centre of town. Plenty parking close by. Bed was comfortable

Checked in at 8pm and kitchen was closed for orders. Breakfast chaotic… only 1 member of staff taking orders, cooking and serving.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
