Kings Arms Hotel

This is a nice looking traditional hotel, which has a lovely old bar area. It is close to the station, down one end of the high street, and the Scottish breakfast was plentiful and well made. It’s also very good value for money.

The only aspects that were a bit of a shame were that dinner was not available after around 8-8.30pm and the hotel bar was not open, even at around 10-10.30pm. It would have been good to experience both and the bar, although old and traditional, just looked like a really comfy place to have a nightcap or two.

Room was dated. Noisy sounded like a boiler working from the early hours

The location in the town centre and only a few minutes from the motorway.

The staff were not interested in us. We arrived around 21.00 and it was clear that we were an inconvenience to them. We checked into our room, came back down 10 minutes later and found the bar closed. No sign of any staff anywhere.
