Zulu Surf Hotel

The pictures are an absolute joke. It is discussing, dirty, and musty. My husband was so taken back that he ran across the street to the Tamarindo Diria. You will do the same. Don’t waist your time booking this low class dump . Karen Kopins actress/ model trust me you will be so happy you did!

Staff were awesome

Very nice, friendly, and accommodating staff. My room had a lot of traffic / street noise from before 5 AM to past midnight every day I was there. For the price, I think it is a pretty good bargain and I would stay here again. But, if traffic noise will interfere with your sleep, you might want to look elsewhere.

I stayed at the Zulu Surf Hotel for five days and had thought the hotel was great. The staff at the hotel was incredibly helpful both before and during my visit; they helped get me transportation to and from the airport, set me up with 3 days of surf lessons and was always helpful with any questions or recommendation requests while I was there. The yoga classes at the hotel were also great and a nice way to start the day. The hotel is located a very central location and is easy to walk to anywhere in town. The Sol bakery right below the hotel is AMAZING which is nice to have it so close by. Overall had a great visit.

Very cute, simply furnished yet comfortable central location. We really enjoyed the room a/c mid day and the rooftop terrance in the evening. Small room fridge and rooftop water and tea all day appreciated. Very friendly and professional staff.

It’s a great location for the beach or entertainment. The front desk folks were super helpful and friendly. The room was clean and cozy.

This hotel has oodles of potential and character and is located right in the heart of Tamarindo's night life. It's a great place to stay if you plan to partake in the party-scene... BUT if you are a light sleeper or a morning person, the noise from the local bars/trucks starting in the a.m. tend to be a little bothersome. The windows in my room didn't close all the way which didn't help. The plumbing does tend to be a little sensitive but apparently that is pretty common in some of the older hotels. There were also no dressers or storage, so my room felt very unorganized with all of my belonging displayed. I would have also preferred to have a safe in my room for my valuables. These are just a few suggestions for improvement. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. 5 our of 5 for the staff.

This is a nice little hotel, unfortunately our room was next to the main door so LOTS of noise. We arrived just before 4pm & they wouldn't check us in until 4pm even thought my confirmation said 3pm?? We had breakfast at Sol (their restaurant) amazing. Location of the hotel is amazingly perfect. Even with the noise I would stay again

Loved the simple room and was perfect for our stay for a few days while visiting the beach, surfing, and enjoying the wonderful food. Our only gripe was the mattress wasn't our favorite but loved the close food options and the discounts that the hotel offered. The hotel felt close to everything in Tamarindo and we happily explored everywhere we could on foot. We liked that the 'Watchy' was free as well but tipped him anyway. Sol bakery was our favorite in the mornings, with good food, smoothies and coffee would couldn't ask for a better way to start our mornings. This place has great vibes and we would absolutely stay again.
