"Luxury accommodation in a prime setting with great history"

Very luxurious high end accommodation, perfect location to walk to town centre. All facilities within the apartment were high spec and you could see a lot of thought had been put into the refurbishment. We liked the quirky fire brigade mementos and even the pole made us laugh. Sadly the weather was awful when we was there so we stayed in and enjoyed the comforts of such top notch accommodation.

Nothing to dislike.

"A favourite on our NZ trip"

Spent two nights in the Chief Shain studio, and literally said "wow" when we walked in. Spacious, modern, light-filled, spotless, thoughtfully equipped, and super cool 'on point' decoration and memorabilia. Great location for exploring the (also super cool and quirky) Hokitika town easily, on foot if desired. We found it utterly quiet, slept very well in the comfy bed. Oh, even as Canadians :) we often found NZ accommodation to be a bit chilly, especially the floors...not at all here, it was noticeably cozy, obviously well insulated! While the hotel doesn't have a traditional 'reception', all the logistics - booking, arrival /parking/entry/departure info was all clear and uncomplicated. We did briefly meet the owner one morning, and he enthusiastically provided in-depth local recommendations for our day. Looking back, this was one of our favourites of all the places we stayed on our trip - great value, too! I wouldn't hesitate to return.

"The place to stay in Hokitika"

This is an ideal location, close to the beach, cafes and shops, and the apartment was beautifully decorated with quality amenities. Kerry and his team did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. We couldn't recommend the Fire Station 🔥 highly enough.

"An oasis of comfort and luxury"

Nicely presented and unusual in style. Well appointed with quality fittings and amenities. Perfect down to the tiniest detail, such as neatly arranged cutlery in the drawer. Lots of information provided eg re food and services nearby. Entry with code so much more convenient than keys
