The Waterside Bar Rooms & Restaurant

Location was ideal for reason for stay (a party in Monton), otherwise we wish we had booked in Salford quays

We stayed here on recommendation from friends for B&B. Unfortunately the room was not very clean on arrival- you couldn't walk in bare feet at any time as bits kept getting stuck on the soles of your feet, the headboard and cushions were extremely dusty, there were a few dark hairs on the outer sheet (we are both blonde), cleaning products (ironically) were left out on the desk next to the coffee machine - simple things but not much attention to detail! The room was incredibly hot (thankfully it wasn't a hot summers day) - we did note that their were no air con facilities on booking but thought we may be in luck when there was a thermostat on the wall - it turns out the air con facility seems to be disabled, and the thermostat just confirms that you're cooking at 28-29 degrees with the window open... We went down for breakfast after checking out and were only the second table seated at this time. We ordered drinks but then had to wait over 20 minutes to order our food - and this was only after asking if we could actually order! There were at least 3 other tables that came in and sat down, ordered and some even making a start on their breakfast before we had ordered. Understandable in a packed restaurant - but this wasn't the case here.

Great location next to the canal. Bar & restaurant were nicely decorated. Room was also nicely decorated, comfy, clean & quiet. We ordered some lunch which was fantastic. Breakfast was also fantastic. A little gem of a place!

Lovely location, food and staff

It was particularly hot when I visited, so I turned the fan on. The dust that rained down on me from the odd plastic vines and flowers all over the beams made a fair old mess on the bedspread which I tried to clear up as best as possible but was pretty gross, especially since I slept on top of the duvet. Definitely needed a shower in the morning!

We really enjoyed the stay, everything was great, the accommodation, cleanliness, the reception staff very friendly and efficient. As we came midweek we couldn’t have breakfast, and whereas I fully understand why it would be impractical for them to fire up the kitchen equipment for very few customers, we felt there could have been a vending machine or 2 providing snack-type food.
