The Caye Hotel Caye Caulker

The staff and property as a whole are excellent, they are going through some remodel construction at the moment so it can be a little loud but honestly there is not much you can do about that.

The room I was in was just somewhat loud.

Room was new, clean and spacious. Hotel under construction so the elevator was not working and we were on floor 5. Not great. The roof deck on the 5th floor was also under construction so there was a lot of construction noise. The tv allowed for streaming subscription channels but the wifi wasn’t robust enough to maintain the signal. The location is great and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

Housekeeping service was very slow usually around 3-4pm. Elevator construction made it noisy dusty during day. Customer service is blah Few amenities - no coffee in room or on premises

Lovely staff at the front desk and room had everything you need - location is perfect right opposite the ferry port and on a main drag but not noisy. Really happy with the hotel and will stay again.

The location was very close to the ferry and the bed was comfortable. It’s also positioned pretty much in the middle of the island so it is a very convenient walk in either direction.

There was no breakfast :( and I was really looking forward to it because of the reviews. They were a bit rude about it too since I was sure it was included in my booking. Instead of advising they were not offering it at the time and accommodating me in some other way, they just kept saying “breakfast isn’t included in your booking, it would say if it was right here (pointing to the printout of my reservation” I literally had to show them the booking app and ask them “where is the option to include breakfast if that’s an extra step because I don’t see it?” Only then did they say they just don’t have it right now. Also the lock on my door was broken and I noticed an empty toilet paper roll in the shower? Assuming it was just left by mistake but things like this make you question cleanliness.

While this isn't a 5 star hotel, it is a well apportioned hotel in an excellent location, convenient to the water taxi, and it is among the best places to stay on Caye Caulker. The staff were very nice and hotel newer and thus in very good shape. Do be aware that from where I booked it sounded as though I got breakfast but none was offered, nor were there vouchers for local places but I understand that is an option. Great hotel, but do know it is difficult for those with mobility issues as there is no elevator. If you have mobility issues ask for something on the main floor. Caye Caulker itself is not conducive to those with mobility issues. We didn't have any but certainly witnessed some struggle with the stairs.

Loved the hotel itself. There was construction occuring on the roof top during my stay. When that area is complete it will be awesome. The only thing i missed was a private beach area for guests, but it wasnt a huge deal breaker, because the hotel itself is super nice.

They pictures on their website show a roof top amenities, but all was under construction. They were installing an elevator which was next to our room. We were never told of all the construction that would be taking place. They advertised they had a TV, but it had no cable or local channels = no TV. To be fair there was a TV hanging on the wall. They charged us for using a towel to dry a dog off. The manager was very very rude. He should be require to have PR classes. One night saw us at a restaurant we were eating at and actually stopped and lectured us at our dinner table about the towel issue. Why would a manager threaten a guest that he would call the police if they don’t pay a fee that they felt was ridiculous. We are a couple in our 60’s who have never been a problem anywhere we have been. He made us feel very unwelcome. The girls at the front desk were extremely friendly and I believe genuinely felt bad for his behavior. I hope this helps someone from not having to experience what we did. Despite Mr. Juan’s behavior from The Caye Caulker hotel we had a pleasant vacation. I guess when you think you have done your homework you might need to do more.
