The whole property is absolutely beautiful, rooms are stunning and comfortable, breakfast and dinner are really great, and above all everyone is super nice and doing everything to make your stay nothing but exceptional. Thank you so much, we really loved staying at yours!

What a beautifully designed hotel, just outside Habarana. Very peaceful, the room was stunning with large balcony overlooking the paddy fields. The dining area & pool area fab. I used the spa too for a 2hr treatment & highly recommended. Staff so friendly & attentive & food great.

You could hear the traffic from the main road as our room closest but it was fine. Food I’d say was good to great, not outstanding but I had no complaints - it was a half board option & good choices for a 3 course meal.

Our third stay at a Taru Villas property. Madu and the team did a great job of looking after us - thank you! The room was lovely, and it was a nice touch that someone was ready and waiting with a torch to walk us to the restaurant on an evening. We spent some time by the pool and it was lovely to see staff come round asking if we wanted anything to eat or drink; I'd noticed that some past reviews mentioned that this didn't happen so it's nice to see that management read these reviews and take action to improve the customer experience.

Beautiful property, superior rooms are really worth it. We stayed for second time, since 2022. Better book it directly with hotel, rates are quite different

The restaurant is average overall. The dinner menu is quite limited, with only around 5–6 items available. Breakfast is also offered à la carte with approximately 5–6 options. In terms of taste, the food is acceptable but fairly average

Very comfortable and clean bedrooms and friendly helpful staff. Located in countryside with native trees and vegetation around the grounds with visiting monkeys and many colourful resident birds. Well maintained swimming pool which was a welcome retreat.

Unfortunately the lodges are located close to a main road so the tranquil setting amongst the trees and grasses is compromised by constant traffic noise. Our main concern however was the quality of food at dinner. Whist breakfasts were excellent, the dinner menu was limited and the quality fell short of what one might expect in an establishment such as this. Starters and sweets were particularly uninspiring. The hotel’s policy of only offering wine by the whole bottle, rather than by the glass, was also irritating.

Beautiful, but high priced hotel in a good location

The food is ok, but not in the quite high level of the hotel … but this is whining at a high level

This hotel felt very special in several ways. The architecture and design is wonderful. It is inspired by the archaeological sites in the area and for us staying here brought some of that history alive. It has also been finished to a very high standard with quality materials and excellent lighting which gives the whole site a very calming atmosphere. The staff are incredible. They put a lot of work into maintaining the grounds, creating a lovely balance of nature and clean comfortable spaces. The food was the best we had during our stay in Sri Lanka, especially the sea food and Sri Lankan dishes. The chefs were happy to make accommodations for people’s preferences. It’s a small hotel which I think meant the staff were able to be more attentive to each of the guests, which again felt very special. You can walk along the lake to a nearby cafe which serves good cocktails and food if you feel like venturing out. It is definitely a more tranquil and calm hotel so bear that in mind when booking.

As with most hotels there are some prettier bits of the landscaping and some areas that are more rugged. But this didn’t detract from the overall beauty of the site.
