The Vanguard - York Residence

A great long weekend stay. Lovely room stocked with all we needed. Clean, comfortable and good space. Clear self check in and parking instructions. Hosts made sure we were happy with everything and gave a super breakfast recommendedation! Ideal location for short walk into York. Doddle of a check out too.

Place and service was excellent and the owner helped us so much with check in and parking , only 1 issue with our stay the 10am check out wasn’t late enough think 11am would be a lot better for all clients . But nice place and had a great sleep very peaceful

2 things. 1- it’s not value for money. For the same price -You could get holiday inn/ even delta Marriott if booked a few weeks in advance and they are much Much superior. 2- the location/ getting to it is very difficult. Narrow streets, you get lost half the time…parking is charged separately- you are told to fill forms… all not straight forward. It’s a converted house basically, allot of taste and effort has gone into converting it. It’s nice and clean. They check you are uk via WhatsApp, but all is remote. Maybe I am used to staying in chains such as delta, holiday inn, premiere inn etc - but comparing them as their price is less than this place .

Nice house, rooms are clean, parking is easy, suitable for business travelers with a limited budget. The only problem is the front door lock is not working as it should, and since there's no reception, if you make three incorrect entries, you have to wait outside for 5 minutes before you can try again. If the weather is cold and you've come from a long journey, it tests your patience at the door. Apart from that, it's a comfortable house, I would recommend it if they fix the entrance lock."

One nights stay in a beautifully maintained clean guest house . Fifteen minute slow walk to York Minster Communication excellent throughout . Thankyou !

water leaked from ceiling onto bed and property owners refused to provide compensation.

The room was beautiful and very clean with the expected amenities provided. The online city guide was particularly appreciated and helped us choose a spot for dinner. I had a little difficulty getting in and out with the pram but that’s to be expected given the type of property. We had trouble arranging parking which wasn’t resolved until after we had arrived, meaning we ended up paying for parking quite a distance away from the hotel due to its location, but this was largely to do with the hotels.com app blocking personal information. Overall, I would recommend to others and stay again.

Apartment as described, will defo stay again

Room was lovely. Right near the centre. Host was accommodating with great communication. Would 100% stay again. The big open shower was amazing also!!
