Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel

Unique, beautiful, historic hotel with warm and knowledgeable staff. Everyone was so lovely and friendly and proud of the history of the hotel and of Ljubljana. The views from the balcony in our room were stunning! Each room tells its own historical stories about Ljubljana. The rooms have beautiful architectural details. The breakfast is delicious and bespoke, with Slovenian delicacies. We loved our stay.

The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel’s design was probably the best I have I ever seen, everything thought-through for maximum ease and comfort. And the quality of the staff was of the same standard: welcoming, professional, preempting needs. (I fell and bruised my leg and before I had finished explaining what had happened I’d been offered an ice-pack, meds and a doctor if necessary. Fortunately the icepack was all I needed.)

Everything about this hotel was really excellent - from the welcome, to the cleanliness, facilities and comfort of the room, to the early check-in and late check-out, and the really excellent breakfast. Quite exceptional. Also a fantastic location.

Stayed here for 4 nights, our experience was excellent. Zlata Ladjica hotel is located at beautiful old town - pedestrian only. So ask them to arrange for pickup services. The room is comfortable though not large, with a river view terrace. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. They prepared us breakfast boxes for our early day trip of Bled and Vintgar Gorge. The highlight is always Breakfast. Restaurant and bar area always a treat. Don’t forget to have a dinner there. Ask them to recommend the dining places, won’t be disappointed. Pleasant, high quality and non-intrusive. 100% recommend to stay in luxury Zlata Ladjica Hotel.

We’ve stayed at many 5-star hotels around the world, but Zlata Ladjica in Ljubljana was truly the most exceptional. Located in one of the city’s oldest buildings, this boutique hotel combines world-class service with authentic Slovenian charm and pride. With just 15 individually designed rooms, each with its own unique story, the hotel feels intimate and deeply personal. The staff was excited to share the history behind each space, and their genuine warmth made us feel like honored guests from the start. Everyone remembered our names and preferences, and it often felt like we were the only ones there. When our original room had an HVAC issue, the staff moved us without hesitation. Our luggage was delayed by the airline, and the team stepped up immediately—calling the airport daily until it arrived. Sensing our stress, the concierge arranged a private 2.5-hour spa experience for us at a discounted rate. We had the cozy basement spa entirely to ourselves, which features two saunas, a cold rain shower, a Zerobody weightless bed, and a serene relaxation area. Detox tea, water, and fresh fruit were provided. We also enjoyed two excellent on-site massages, which made us feel completely restored. The hotel’s location is perfect—in the heart of old town, right on the river, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and cafés. Every detail was thoughtful: a handwritten welcome note, daily Slovenian chocolates, top-notch local food, and seamless valet service with the concierge walking us to and from our car. From the luxurious beds to the heartfelt service, Zlata Ladjica felt like home—only better. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return.

My son and I stayed at Zlata Ladjica for 5 days and we wish it could have been more. From the moment we checked in and enjoyed a welcome drink on their outdoor patio to when we checked out and one of the staff members walked with us to our rental car, we loved every minute. We were quite sad to leave! The story behind each room is delightful and the rooms themselves are clean, well laid out, quiet and super comfortable. Without a doubt, this is the best coffee set-up I have ever seen in any hotel: a high-end coffee maker with beans (no pods!) as well as a number of herbal teas and sugars. I am embarrassed to say how many coffees I made myself in the room every day with such delicious freshly ground coffee beans. (A lot.) We enjoyed talking to every single staff member. They were personable, extraordinarily helpful and informative, friendly and fun. They consistently went out of their way to help. The location is perfect, the food and bar are top notch, and there are infinite little details to make the stay an A+++.

The Zlata Ladjica Hotel is a true gem. From its prime location, beautiful decor, and incredible team members to its comfortable accommodations, amazing food and room views (ours was of the Ljubljana Castle), Zlata Ladjica is the perfect place to experience one of the prettiest cities you will ever see. To a person, the hotel team members -- Jernej, Stas, Gregor, Tadej, Miha, Janja, Urška, Tim, and Marko -- are all amazing, and made us feel at home from the moment we walked through the front door. We had an incredible stay in Ljubljana -- including visits to breathtaking Lake Bled, Bohinj Lake, Vogel Mountain, Predjama Castle and the Postonja Caves (all arranged by the hotel, with an outstanding guide Luka P!). It is a vacation that we will never forget. We can't say enough great things about Zlata Ladjica -- five stars and 10/10!! Can't wait to come back! Hvala lepa! Jon & Suzanne W.
