Unsafe

Was stared at and cat called whilst coming into my checkin process by some losers outside the bar. Gross. I was shocked when coming into this hotel as it was swarmed with drunk people mid day and it was very uncomfortable. My room smelt of cigarette, weed and the smell is just covered up with strong disinfectant. The check in process was pretty.. strange. No one was very friendly, and it seemed only one of the 2 people knew how to check in someone. The hotel really threw off my trip, but this is for anyone else unfamiliar with Winnipeg, this is an extremely unsafe area. I can see now why the rates are as low as they are.

I tried to cancel it upon arrival but Expedia wouldn’t let me. It was DISGUSTING, beyond words. The pictures of the reception are deceiving, it’s not representative of the hotel at all. I’m appalled! There were marks down the wall beside the toilet and literal blood stains on the sheets. When we asked for new sheets they couldn’t give us any because they didn’t have any fitted sheets. Had to wait for it to be washed and dried! The duvet was stained, when I asked for a duvet they put a sheet on the stained one and gave it back to us. The guy working there made me feel like asking for a clean sheet was the end of the world. It rained outside, we woke up to a puddle by the window because the window leaked. It was absolutely awful. Never using Expedia again.

We had to overnight at the Winnipeg airport and booked this hotel through Expedia. First, the Expedia ad said one room left which was not correct. Second, this hotel is NOT near the airport as advertised (and in fact appeared to be in an industrial area with few amenities). Third, it is a terrible hotel. Only thing going for it is that it is clean and freshly painted. The reception staff were more concerned with getting our damage deposit than our condition. The grey painted cement block rooms are on the 2nd floor and no elevator. The room sink was disconnected under the counter so our first experience was a flood when the faucet was turned on. The single window had an air conditioner that was loud and the fan blew air directly at the head of one bed less than 2 feet away. Sleep was difficult. There were no glasses or cups and the lonely coffee maker had no supplies of anything, even coffee. There were no hangers. We were told that there had been a new housekeeper that day which does not explain all the issues encountered. Finally when we left very early, we complained about the situation and were told the owner would call us. Not surprisingly, no call. Do not stay in this hotel. UBER costs (there is no shuttle) and the room rate are more than the real hotels immediately beside the airport.
